so . . .  whats your deal ?

you flipped a coin. it landed on heads. you enrolled at greendale. because sometimes, things can be that easy. no one else seems to get that. they all have their little marked out plans and they just don’t get how you go with the flow so easily. but that’s how you’ve always been: and it’s what’s made you such a fun grab bag of stories and skills that no one ever sees coming. your study group is getting to know you, but they’ll never really know what’s coming next, and that’s just how you like it.

the super, super senior :  the super, super senior has more money than sense and the wild card has no sense at all: they’re truly a match made in hell. when something goes way off the rails at greendale, and it wasn’t the dean’s doing, a finger can almost always be pointed back to the super, super senior and the wild card. they indulge each other’s bad habits, when they get going, there’s no stopping them. they’re partners in crime. the wild card feels lucky to have someone who finally gets their hedonistic ways and the super, super senior finally feels like they’re making the friends they’ve always wanted to have at greendale.

the asshole & the bleeding heart :   with greendale falling to pieces, the tuition rates keep getting higher and some students, who don’t have a great fiscal base, find themselves struggling to keep up. the asshole, the wild card, and the bleeding heart are three of those students. for their own reasons, they were all getting ready to face eviction in their old places, so they decided to move in together. now, what happens when you put a short fuse, a white knight, and a total loose canon in one cheap-ass apartment? chaos, to be frank. but it’s chaos that would make good tv.

the sycophant :  the sycophant is caught at a crossroads. they can forge their own new path, and finally become their own person ---  whoever that is. or they can allow themselves to be seduced by another strong personality. and who at greendale has a stronger personality than the wild card? unlike the other good influences in their life though, the wild card wants the sycophant to join them in raising a little hell. they feel so easy to pull under their wing, if it weren’t for the pesky study group rivalry separating them, it would already be a done deal. but instead, the sycophant finds themselves sneaking around, falling under the wild card’s spell.

roll call . . .  is the daydreamer here ?

(  JOSEFINE FRIDA PETTERSEN. 20. CIS WOMAN + SHE/HER.  )   do you have any classes with elizabeth hastings? i heard they were born on february 26 which makes them a pisces: i wonder if ending up at greendale studying business + art even though they’re a waitress was in their horoscope. writing on the bathroom wall calls them the daydreamer, which i think is a little harsh, but i guess they do kind of remind me of colorful doodles on top of messy notes, towers of books crowding a room, badly decorated cookies so it checks out.

so . . .  whats your deal ?

you had the worst spanish grade before this all started. but in your defense, you didn’t want to take spanish: you didn’t want to go to greendale at all. but your parents insisted the degree would help you take over the family business one day. they just can’t seem to get that school isn’t really your thing. you sit down in class and then you see something out the window, or a doodle on someone else’s notes, and find yourself engrossed with it for the rest of class. your study group accepts you all the same though. even though you’re not much help when actually studying, you keep things light, and that’s a skill too, right?

the out-of-touch :  the daydreamer is plagued by what-ifs ---- and the out-of-touch is one of their biggest. they met at the freshman mixer and hit it off over some long-winded conversation about the kind of fantastical things only they can care about, and the daydreamer was smitten. the out-of-touch wasn’t sure what they felt, but they knew it was strong. and then they found themselves in different study groups. and then they found themselves caught in a feud. the daydreamer wants so badly to reach out, but they know that the group in study room c is all but off limits. it still doesn’t stop their longing stares and wishful thinking.

the asshole :  the asshole and the daydreamer aren’t just in the study group together. after hearing the asshole complain about their biology class, the daydreamer took it upon themselves to go ahead and enroll with them, to keep a friend company and get that pesky science requirement out of the way early. which, the asshole definitely didn’t ask for: before this class, they hadn’t spent really any one-on-one time together, and the asshole never really picked up on the daydreamer’s schtick like everyone else. but now that they’re getting to know them better, they’re maybe starting to realize what draws everyone to the daydreamer: not that they’d ever admit it.

the soccer parent :  the daydreamer, for all their absent-mindedness is a pretty good babysitter. so they’ve offered their services to the soccer parent in the past. the soccer parent is always quick to offer the daydreamer a ride home after, and they’ve really gotten to better know the daydreamer because of it. the daydreamer wishes their parents were more like the soccer parent, and has gotten more than comfortable divulging whatever problems they’re working through with them. the soccer parent is more than happy to advise them, even if their advice doesn’t always hit the mark. their heart is in the right place.

you got fired. plain and simple. but honestly, you’re pretty sure your boss just wasn’t ready to hear the harsh truth you brought to the table. you’re at greendale so next time, you’ll be the boss, and there won’t be anyone to try and shut you up. you’ll have a dumb little piece of paper to back up what you already know: you always have a right answer. you’re hard to get along with, and you know it, but you’ve never let it get to you. but your study group is instilling stupid morals into you. they almost make you want to be nicer. almost. maybe next semester.

the super, super senior :  the super, super senior is an easy target. the asshole knows this. but still, it’s just so hard to resist kicking the super, super senior while they’re down. these two really don’t see eye-to-eye on much ----  and even when they do,  the asshole finds themselves wondering if they could possible be on the right side of things. usually, the super, super senior has no problem trying to hold their own against the asshole, but sometimes, just sometimes, they set them up for a homerun. the asshole’s clearly got something bigger going on if picking on such low-hanging fruit is all they have going on, and the super, super senior doesn’t mind being the outlet for that from time to time.

MALE + HE/HIM. )   do you have any classes with viktor ortega? i heard they were born on may 2nd which makes them a taurus: i wonder if ending up at greendale studying social services even though they’re a stay-at-home dad was in their horoscope. writing on the bathroom wall calls them the soccer parent, which i think is a little harsh, but i guess they do kind of remind me of early morning sunlight hitting colored stained glass after a storm, the deep inhale of a crackling fire and homemade hot chocolate, the muffled sounds of laughter and jazz that fills the soul with a certain type of joy, so it checks out.

you were married right out of high school, with a baby on the way. things in your life have always moved so fast. it felt like one morning you woke up, and suddenly and all at once, you realized you’d become someone you weren’t out of necessity, not by choice. to raise a family, you’d lost yourself. you had dreams once too, dammit ---- now it’s just a matter of remembering them, through the fog of your new life. you enrolled in greendale in the carpool lane, looking for something that could be just for you.

the divorcee :  while greendale has plenty of non-traditional students, among their study group, sometimes the soccer parent gets lonely. it’s a lot of characters, and part of why they enrolled at greendale was to shake things up, so they love it ---- it’s just nice to talk to the divorcee sometimes, who’s someone who gets wanting a nice suburban life outside of greendale. now, the study group’s feud makes their friendship a little more complicated, but it doesn’t stop them from grabbing secret off-campus coffee a couple times a week. sometimes, they even actually get a little studying done ( a feat their study groups’ hijinks usually doesn’t allow ).

the out-of-touch :   the soccer parent doesn’t get the out-of-touch. i mean, no one really does, but a lot of the time, the soccer parent feels extra out of the loop. but that still doesn’t stop something in them that feels the need to be fiercely protective of the out-of-touch. yeah, maybe they’re weird, and they’re definitely in the other study group, but they’re a good kid, and they deserve better than people poking fun at them for just being themselves. the out-of-touch has yet to realize that the soccer parent’s offers to talk after class are lightly tinged with this kind of pity ---- they mostly just appreciate the captive audience.

you’re the campus casanova ---- which isn’t exactly hard, considering who you’re up in the running against. you’ve always relied on using that as a currency: you’re charming and getting people to like you has always been effortless. but as you get older, you wonder if there’s more to life than pretty smiles and pick-up lines. you’re at greendale to prove that you’re more than just hot and cool and fun to hang out with on fridays ---- but it’s tricky when everyone on campus still just sees that, and you can’t really say no to a free drink. maybe after you get the degree you’ll start making everyone take you seriously...

the divorcee : the divorcee never got to meet the person their spouse cheated on them with. and they know it’s paranoid, they know it’s nearly baseless, they know it’s judgmental, but they’ve got an eye on the lothario. the lothario’s got a familiar face, from even before and they’re always saying vague things about how, in the past, they haven’t had problems breaking up couples before. whether or not they did it, the divorcee doesn’t take kindly to how lightly the lothario takes marriage and relationships.

the super, super senior :  the super, super senior is pretty sure they’re a kindred spirit with the lothario. the lothario’s pretty sure they’re off base though. the super, super senior fancies themselves someone who used to be hot shit on campus, and maybe they were, over a decade ago when they enrolled at greendale, but all that shimmers one day fades. they’re a little rusty, they’ve lost their game, and yet they still insist they have the same amount of game as the lothario. the lothario indulges them, for the most part, but when they start trying to play wingman and end up ruining the lothario’s date, it stops being so funny.

the fraud :  the lothario and the fraud both have very clear public personas. whether they feel that way behind closed doors or is another story, but in class, they present themselves as confident to a fault, sure in themselves and their place on campus. and it’s like they say: like attracts like. they haven’t mentioned it to the study group, because they seem to have a delicate balance they’re getting settled in, but they started hooking up after the snowflake soiree, right before winter break. neither’s too worried about it getting too serious, since they both have major commitment issues, so now, it’s just a matter of seeing who breaks first.

CIS MALE + HE/HIM.  )   do you have any classes with mike kaplan? i heard they were born on july 26 which makes them a leo:  i wonder if ending up at greendale studying communication even though they’re a lawyer was in their horoscope. writing on the bathroom wall calls them the fraud, which i think is a little harsh, but i guess they do kind of remind me of silver tongued lies steeped in scotch, a pit in your stomach no amount of blue ribbons can fill, and a thick knit sweater, tight around the chest: it keeps your heart from falling out every time the wind blows, so it checks out.

everything was going great. until it wasn’t. you built your life on a clever charade, you were a con artist with a nice smile who always had the right words to say on reserve. you got caught in lie after lie until you were knocked off your feet. a king without a crown, you crawled through greendale’s doors desperate to press the easy button. you’re here as a detour, biding your time until you can get back to the good life. you can’t stand the idea of a fresh start, but it’s seeming more and more inevitable with every passing day.

the bleeding heart :  the fraud knows every way to get under the bleeding heart’s skin, and vice versa. the fraud stands for everything the bleeding heart is against: lies and corruption and self absorption. and the bleeding heart’s virtue signaling turns the fraud off: they know people, and they know how to tell when someone is grasping at any excuse to convince people they’re morally upright and righteous. but the study group has pushed them to find some kind of common grown: they’re both just messed up people trying to get back on the right path  ( even if they’re still ironing out what that path is ).

the goody two-shoes :   the goody two-shoes makes the fraud insecure, point blank period ----  and that’s typically a pretty hard thing to do. the fraud had built a life on lies and shortcuts, on finding the easiest way to get what they want and leaving it there. but the goody two-shoes cares about things, maybe even a little too much. they’re hardworking and passionate and convicted and all these things that the fraud has never been. which makes them the perfect rivals, a pair at the center of group c and group f’s longstanding feud.
