settling in for the long haul tonight. hoping to finish up my notes from last week’s latin quiz and get started on the readings for this week’s linguistics midterm. i’ve got quite a bit to catch up on, and i’m so very tired, but the sea shanties do help immensely.

9.23.20: In Person Classes are Stressful 

If you didn’t know I am in my last semester of undergrad. This semester has been particularly stressful because I still have in person classes even with COVID. I know online classes are not fun either but it is stressful to still come to class.

How are you guys doing? How is this semester going?

You know what, so technically, I didn’t do all my dailies yesterday, because I fucking passed out on the bed, but I am too close to the end to hand it over now, so tell you what, I’m just gonna do what I should’ve yesterday today (that’ll be another 15 minutes of art and journaling), so that’ll make up for it, probably.

Also, yesterday I used up some figs and made cake.  Or bread, depending on how you look at it.  Quickbread.  

Yesterday’s review words:  zero (零), most (最), close (近), past tense (左), not yet (未).  By the way, this has made me discover more characters I am mad at.  Behold!  未 and 末.  They look pretty fucking identical and yet — different words. They’re different words and I hate it.

latin has been both easier and harder than expected so far. i keep translating things, thinking i must be completely wrong about my answers because they feel too easy, and finding out that i was right all along. it’s been a while since i had the experience of being confused to the point of tears while working on an assignment, and then having no idea what the hell happened when i get it back and i’ve only gotten a few problems wrong.

i think most of my confusion stems from my lovely autistic brain insisting that i need to learn and study in a very particular way (which, of course, does not coincide at all with the order in which we’re learning things in class) so i think if i want to stop feeling so confused, i need to buckle up and start studying ahead in a way that works for me so that i can follow along better in class.

and i just finished my first grammar notecard, so here’s to hoping my inertia keeps me moving forwards!
