Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I posted anything on here, I’m really not superb at staying active with original content. However, I just got these two new notebooks and they’re putting me in such an autumn mood!! 🍂
As for my academic life, I am finally taking classes that focus on just Microbiology! This semester I have to say my favorite thing to learn about is immunology and pathogenesis. 🦠
It’s also so interesting to be in classes that focus on microbes during the pandemic, because my professors bring up COVID-19 at least once a week to talk about how it relates to the material we are learning. It’s amazing to have my course material be actually relavent to the real world again.
How are people handling attending classes mostly from home? I know for me I tend to learn better in classroom settings, but I’m actually not as disorganized as I thought I’d be so I definitely think that has something to do with me being interested in the material I’m learning. Honestly, the worst part is just feeling isolated and having nowhere to go to study outside my home. But I was expecting at least half of that considering all of my college friends have graduated and entered masters programs or professional school or the work force.
Final question for anyone in a masters or PhD program right now: how did you know when you were ready to commit to a program and a specific area of research? Because I’d honestly love to learn more about immunobiology and genetics from a deeper perspective than offered in undergraduate courses, but I’m not sure if I want to actually have a specialized research focus within those subjects or if I just want to gain a more in-depth broad understanding... of that makes sense.
Anyways, I hope everyone’s hanging in there! Hopefully I’ll be back with more content soon!
