Guess who put makeup on today!
I’m not going to force myself to work too hard today because I have been locked in this office all. week. long. And fam: I’m going crazy But tonight!!! I’m going out in public. YES PUBLIC, the place I typically avoid at all costs but am now longing for.
I’m going to try to get some notes written but I probably won’t be making too much progress. I’m ahead of schedule so I’m not too worried about it.
Happy Friday!
I think the boyfriend and I are going to go to the local library this weekend to study because he has social work stuff to do, and I of course always have school stuff to do. I find it so weird that I’m like... excited (???) to do that. I’ve never liked studying, and I always found it to be a chore, but ever since finding the studyblr community I have this overwhelming motivation to not only get stuff done but to get good grades who am i?
“subjects lead to believe that their success was due to chance did less well than those who believed that skill could be effective” is like, the single most obvious answer to how the celebration of white/male mediocrity perpetuates itself
like, mediocre white/man believes in his own skill (i.e. “i have these good things because I’m smart talented and hardworking, i earned what I have”) and this belief in himself enables him to be more successful than he otherwise would have been
and on the flip side, women and people of colour are disadvantaged by our impostor syndrome, since our belief in luck/not ourselves makes us perform less well than we otherwise could have, and we see our comparatively lackluster performance as a sign that we really must be worth nothing
Writing an essay about Parkinson's disease is in no way depressing...
Yes I like to study on the floor. It is winter here in Australia and the heater is my friend.
Brushing up on qualitative research methods on the couch while watching Will and Grace.
Last minute revision for my Psychology exam in 2 hours.
