Hi there! I am in 6th grade and I'll take an entrance exam at PSHS this February. They said that the exam is all about essays. Do you have any suggestions for practice or essays used by your school?
Hi! Congrats on getting to the second phase! I'm so sorry for this late reply, but I'll get back to you with a full answer ASAP. I didn't do an essay for Pisay when I applied six years ago, so I don't actually have a lot to say. Regardless, here are five three general tips I have for writing essays for schools:
Read college application essays. A lot of schools abroad, especially in the USA, require their students to write essays as part of their applications. I recommend looking for some samples online, which are generally pretty easy to find, but I'll link you to some soon.
As a high school senior, I'm currently in the process of applying to some schools abroad, and from experience, five of the most common essay types would be the Personal Statement, the Community essay, the Extracurricular essay, the Intellectual Curiosity essay, and the Why This School essay. Pisay might take another route tho and ask about your interest in STEM and any relevant experience you might have, so prepare for those too.
Write a few essay drafts and get them checked, no matter how bad they might be! It's one of the best ways you can improve. Feel free to dm me your essays so I can comment on them - I promise I'm really nice.
I'm assuming you also asked the next question today, will get back to you soon! Please dm me for any of your more specifpic questions so I can help you out :) Best of luck!
