Not everyone’s cup of tea
What I mean here is jazz music.
I listen to Jazz Study Music on Spotify. But after watching The Big Bang Theory and a bunch of other shows that throws shade at jazz, I understand that not everyone likes it. It’s not easy to like because it’s not structured, at least that’s what Sheldon says.
But guess what? I can concentrate listening to it. Jazz music works for me while studying. I can concentrate on what I’m reading if I’m listening to a Jazz Study playlist on Spotify. Most of my most recent posts here have been about music, maybe it’s because, subconsciously, it is one of the things that helped me concentrate, and in a way, cope (aside from my loving boyfriend, of course).
Although throughout of my law-school-from-home journey, I have listened to a lot of genres to help me concentrate, from Mozart to nature sounds and what-have-you, but ironically, jazz music has proven to be the most effective. It does not make me fall asleep like straight up classical music does (which I also love, don’t get me wrong) and it does not distract me from what I’m reading. It’s the perfect music that can help me concentrate, although not a lot of people will agree with me.
And so, in a way, being able to concentrate while listening to jazz music is one of the surprising things that I discovered about myself during this pandemic. What’s yours?
