But basically in the AU Cory and Uni are childhood "friends" that grew up in the same orphanage who stayed in touch even after they both got adopted, they also went to the same college too but that's canon in the series.
(I put quotations on friends because they are VERY homosexual, like, so gay but both are too scared to say anything so they just kiss with socks on /hj)
Like in the series, Uni was supposed to show around Cory the site and train him for his new job as a pencil pusher before the breach happened. Everything that happens up until Uni getting infected by SCP- blah blah blah (the disease Uni got) is the same because by same miracle the cure works... after Uni locks himself inside the control room and after he passes out because of bloodloss or something
Cory is so distraught by his homo homie's presumed death he runs off... towards the same exact lab that the infection escaped from and that's how Cory gets infected and stuff
Now where was Hooper and that one other guy while this was happening?? Well the other guy was convincing Hooper that they need to just leave because it's clear that Cory is a "lost cause" so they still escape (well Hooper does the other guy dies in the sewer)
Cory is weird, as we already know, so the infection doesn't really affect him like it normally would and parts of his body start melting/decaying off of him. It's like.. SUPER painful but his body keeps regenerating itself so he doesn't die but the pain from his body essentially dying over and over again in different areas kinda numbs his brain. He isn't very conscious anymore
ALSO the nuke is still detonated and Cory n Uni both survive. Cory survives because the infection isn't letting him die (as well as the SK not wanting him to die just yet) and Uni survives because uhh he can regenerate as a side effect of being cured or something
Cory looses his original totally looking legs because debris from the blast cut his legs clean off so the infection starts growing him new legs and if it wasn't clear already it wasn't going for human legs (mostly because the SK somehow influenced the infection to grow Cory some legs that would help him kill more people... or something idk yet) and he grows the lower half that he has in my other drawings of the AU and stuff
Cory is barely aware of his surroundings most of the time and he can't see shit, he's just out of it and that allows the SK to guide his actions mainly just to get him to eat the bodies in the site and to cause general chaos with anything that comes across his path which includes Uni
Uni is like SUPER aware of everything around him he is a nervous wreck but thankfully he finds SCP 999 so he isn't as nervous but he still is really anxious because I like seeing him suffer
Uni is in a terrible mental state not just because of how anxious he is but also because his bestest friend in the world tried to eat him right after he woke up and started wandering around the site looking for a way out or anyone else alive. It also doesn't help that Cory is constantly crying out Uni's name as a way to lure people (more like to lure out Uni because Cory and him are like the only 2 humanish people alive in the site) out so he can eat them
Cory misses Uni like a lot but he's way too out of it to realize that like at all (If that makes sense) and since he can't see all that well he doesn't know that the person that he's been trying to eat is the person that he's crying out for
Uni doesn't know this but sometimes Cory will get moments of clarity where everthing that is happening around him and to him hits him like a freight train. All Cory can do is cry out in agony and scream for Uni, or anybody, to help him (or to just put him out of his misery) before he forgets all of that and he goes back to wandering around sniffing out bodies. Uni thinks that Cory is just getting better at faking suffering to lure him out
