@Regranned from @sirpennypacker - #stupidhumans 🔊 Just like in the movies, it looks like Zuzu will get a wonderful life after all. - The 2-year-old German shepherd mix became famous this week after an ordeal chronicled on social media. - Zuzu found herself at the Downey Animal Care Center after jumping the fence at her home and wandering LA county, said Desi. - Lara named the dog after the little girl in “It’s a Wonderful Life”. - After being at the shelter for a few days, Zuzu was about to participate in a dog introduction — Suddenly, she got very excited; she “lit up like a Christmas tree,” Lara said. - Zuzu’s owners had come to the shelter to reclaim their dog Lara thought — but that was not the case. - Instead, they were looking for a new dog. They didn’t want Zuzu back, because she wasn’t happy and crying a lot since her father had died. - “Once I found out they weren’t taking her, my heart broke,” The owners said they had called Zuzu “Princess”. “They acted like they really liked her, but didn’t want to take her” Lara said. - Lara’s Zuzu Facebook post got over 500,000 views and 100’s of comments, which expressed people’s anger towards Zuzu’s owners. - Within days of her story spreading, Zuzu was taken in by the Pet Adoption Fund, a no-kill shelter which rehouses abandoned dogs. - Inundated by animal-lovers offering Zuzu a home, the staff settled on Mr and Mrs Gallo who were looking for another dog to keep their pet rescue dog Dodger company after the death of his companion Dinky. - Mr Gallo said the couple's beloved rescue Dinky died within hours of them hearing about Zuzu for the first time. - 'We were bummed out to the max; I turned on the TV, and the story of Zuzu reappeared. - 'I’m not sure why Dinky decided on that day to take a new journey with his soul, but at that moment, I knew that whatever we needed to do, whatever we could do, we needed to try to adopt Zuzu,' he said. - Zuzu settled in to the couple's house where she and Dodger greeted one another with wagging tails. - As for Zuzu’s past owners, Downey Animal Care reported that they did not adopt another dog. — #kindness #compassion #animallover #animalrights #dogs #pets #puppies #kittens #
