for the tcw prompt thingy: Obi-wan/Satine - their time in mandalore with obi wan as a padawan and satine about to be duchess (the war where obi wan and qui gon protect her for one year)
this turned out crack!ish but w/e

Satine is—well, pristine. She glimmers like a freshly polished vase, her features still soft from her youth but angled, and her eyes are ice cold blue. Whenever Obi-Wan looks at them, he shivers and places his gaze elsewhere.
By all means, it doesn’t make sense how someone who has been quite literally on the run for her life for the past three months to glimmer in the kriffing moonlight. It’s hauntingly beautiful, and downright haunting, and Obi-Wan finds himself staring when he should be meditating.
Master Qui-Gon’s eyes are closed, which is not really comforting; Obi-Wan swears that he can see through his eyelids whenever he chooses, but he decides to chance it anyway. He watches the soon-to-be duchess sleep, and tries to decipher if the pallid pigment of her skin is something he should worry over.
Obi-Wan flails about, trying to cover up his surprise and embarrassment by dramatically flinging his robes over his shoulders. “I was hardly gawking, Master.”
"Then what would you call it, then?"
The Padawan strokes at his chin, like he’s seen his master do it a thousand times. “…a watchful gaze?”
"Ah. Well then, stop ‘watchfully gazing’ at Satine like a predator. The last time she caught you staring, she pushed you in a river." Qui-Gon’s eyebrows shoot up, as if he’s imagining the memory and becoming amused by it all over again.
"Her Highness pushed me in a river because she’s temperamental and half-minded on a good day, not because I was staring at her," Obi-Wan bristles. "Besides, I’m only trying to decipher something about her, not…not being creepy, or anything."
At this, Qui-Gon’s eyes pop open. “Does something about the duchess trouble you?”
"Yes." Then, noticing his master’s distress, Obi-Wan quickly backpedals, "No, no, not anything that warrants worry. I am just-" he searches for the word and attempts to casually look at the dirt under his nails, "curious about some aspects of her."
His master falls silent for some time, and Obi-Wan gets the false hope that he’s forgotten the conversation. The Qui-Gon starts to grin, and heat flares up to Obi-Wan’s cheeks in a warm rush. He scowls bitterly and, rather petulantly, though he can’t bring himself to care, turns his back to his master and decides to finish his meditation in the opposite direction.
"Obi-Wan," Qui-Gon starts. He has to pause to clear his throat and regain his composure, "Padawan, please. You’re acting like a child."
"Then I will continue to act like a child over here.” Obi-Wan bristles. He tries to close his eyes and focus on the force but his mind is only on the duchess and his concentration is utterly shot. He groans loudly, and with great reluctance, turns to face Qui-Gon again.
"Having trouble focusing?"
"…yes," Obi-Wan admits, and readies himself for a lecture.
But Qui-Gon merely looks at him. “You can sleep instead, if you wish. I will take watch for the night.”
Obi-Wan can’t stop himself from saying, “Really?” as if he expects his master to change his mind.
"Yes, really. Sleep well, Padawan."
He fashions his robe into a pillow, of sorts, and lays to rest in the most comfortable position he can manage. And though he still won’t admit it, shoots one last look at the duchess before falling asleep.

Obi-Wan wakes to Satine’s boot in his stomach and blearily tries to decipher what the high-pitched squeal of her voice is going on about. He catches the words “gawking” and “leering” and groans, deeply, and tries to roll away from the onslaught of kicks.
He isn’t sure how, or why, but he knows that Master Qui-Gon is the reason for this, and yes, revenge is of the dark side, but he can see the appeal.
