Here is a Public Service Announcement about cyberbullying that was sponsored by Submit the Documentary and Project Anti-Bully. It was posted to YouTube only only yesterday, and got extra attention when it was retweeted by PostSecret on Twitter. As of now, the video has 407 views, but I predict the views will skyrocket in the coming days as it is spread across various blogs and social media sites.
This 45-second video brings awareness to cyberbullying, and aims to make victims feel as though they are not alone. It also encourages others to stick up for victims if they see it happening on social media sites. The video says, “This is the reality of cyberbullying. It’s not physical, it’s personal.”
If this video went viral, and more videos like it were created, I think it could shine a huge light on cyberbullying and the dangers of it. The Internet would look like a much friendlier place if PSA’s like this were implemented, and it may even save some lives.
Although this video was short, I think it successfully evoked a great deal of emotion for the viewer and hopefully it informed people of this problem that they didn’t know existed before. My only hope is that more videos like this are created, and fast.
