I <3 Pride + Prejudice + Zombies, so jot that down
I can unashamedly say that Sam Riley is my absolute FAVORITE Mr. Darcy. Tbh, I find it hard to understand why there are so many fans that don’t care for Pride + Prejudice + Zombies, because to me it’s the most exciting, beautifully casted (and I mean that quite literally) of all the P+P adaptations.
Yes, I know people worship the 1995 version for Colin Firth and its by-the-book accuracy (MOSTLY *hint* somebody was especially thirsty for Colin’s chest but I don’t know who), and the 2005 is very lovely and artistic and Knightley slays and McFadden’s Darcy is the most adorkable thing ever...
BUT COME. ON. This was so lit, so cool, so, I’ll go ahead and say it, sexy... I don’t know how any Darcy/Elizabeth lover could NOT enjoy it to some extent. SO it’s got zombies, SO the D/E element is a bit rushed. I was totally cool with that. It’s an apocalypse AU, if it had the same relaxed pace of the novel, it’d be weird!
Yes, I do think it would have benefited to have been done as a mini-series instead, because then we’d get to flesh out the universe and characters a lot more, but all in all, this is an absolutely badass, amusing, aesthetically pleasing, leather-clad swoon-worthy mashup, and I adore it.
