Many of us think we CANNOT possibly fall victim to gas lighting, but chances are….you already have. Those who employ this technique are generally master manipulators and do so with such confidence! This describes my abuser perfectly.
I made the mistake of going to several therapists with my abuser. Everything that I shared in confidence was later used against me as a way to discredit me, or make me out to be the unstable/crazy one. Do not be tricked into thinking your abuser wants to "work on your relationship". It is only a ploy to further draw you in and make you more vulnerable to them. "if you choose to confide to a narcissists about how you feel regarding your own life, any social interaction, your life history, or personal insecurities and fears, understand that the people you are essentially giving the key to your heart, spirit, and mind are the types of individuals who are emotionally and psychologically capable of betraying those who love and care for them the most..."
