I’m not sure about what chapter you are talking about adorable anon but let me try and answer this the best way I can

If you’re talking about the Christmas specials then we see that most of the backgrounds are dark but they’re on an alley then Mo’s apartment that isn’t in the best side of town and those areas are not exactly well illuminated then a night club so far no luck to know if that actually counts

If you are talking about the normal everyday chapters then yes although this is also mostly night time scenarios we see the characters standing where there is no light

Even when there’s something that should brighten their faces a little, so yes I do believe that they’re in the darkness for a reason, mostly internal struggle in my humble opinion

Sorry for the late reply Anon I thought I answered this one already but if anything now we now that yes OX decided to use a darker color scheme for this chapters maybe because the separation is close and regardless of any effort hurt is coming their way
