Going below the usual quality you spend on for yourself is not good for you in the end. He’s giving you the card to at least fulfill what you provide yourself, or ideally surpass with better.

It seems like you’re testing his wallet, oppositedly choosing the cheapest gives off the impression you aren’t familiar with quality things or devalue yourself. This can even be applied to business matters. It’s safe to choose a mid point leaning towards more expensive, while knowing how to pronounce the names and brands. The same concept can be applied to shopping too.
