After having watched "Haechi', I find myself rewatching "Dong Yi" and seeing the scenes between King Sukjong, Choi Suk-bin and their beloved little prince with more warmth and fondness and in a different light. "Dong Yi" shows the reason why Yi Geum grew to be the kind of man and king that he was: he was a child borne out of his parents' love for each other. And they loved him very much though in different ways.
I'd like to think that even if both dramas were only remade based on limited historical data, there's still some semblance of truth in them. And it's just heartwarming to imagine that it was that love that gave Yi Geum the heart and the spirit to pursue his dreams of becoming a king worthy of his people.
