You held Sukuna as the three of you drove home, with Megumi mostly looking into the back view mirror to check on the both of you.
He sighed to himself... you just had to choose the death cat...
"Kuna~~" you cooed softly as you petted his cheeks in your hold, sukuna letting out a whine as you did this, his nail digging into your lap as you yelped in pain and let him go pouting softly at sukuna as he jumped off your lap onto the other seat and licked his paw to clean his fur.
Megumi sweat dropped as he watched this... why was he doing this job again? ...Right.... the money...
"Kunaaaa" you whined and poked Sukuna as he curled up, faced away from you. He ignored you as you did this, sighing to yourself and leaned back into your seat slowly getting lulled to sleep as the car's smooth flow rocked you.
Minutes passed as Sukuna ignored you, he wondered why you had stopped... had you suddenly gotten tired of him? Did he perhaps... finally upset you?
Sukuna uncurled from his spot and looked up at you, seeing you with your eyes closed he let out a soft meow in curiousity, hoping down from his seat and nudging your leg with his paw...
Mreow?? (Human?) Mew mreow? (Did you die?)
He nudged you again, hopping onto your lap, there he felt your the slow movement pf the ups and downs of your breathing as he curled up against you, purring quietly and out of personality.
Meow... (resting... just...) mew... (resting...)
The three of you finally reaching your home, megumi carefully parked the car into the garage of the mansion. Megumi then got out of the driver seat and went towards your side, gently nudging you awake, sukuna stirring from this opened his eyes and yawned, stretching.
You whined as megumi woke you up. Opening your eyes slowly as you rubbed the sleep off. "We... home already...?"
"Yep... Let's go in Mx. (Y/n)..." Megumi said, switching to his professional mode.
You merely nodded looking at Sukuna by your side who tilted his head, you reached out towards him, lifting him up into your arms as you existed the car.
He whined in your hold as his lower body dangled helplessly in your arms.
Mreowwww!!! (Humaaannnn!!!)
Mew mreow!!! (Place me down!!!)
You sighed softly, yawning sleepily at the fussy cat. "Kuna... calm down..."
The three of you entered your household as Sukuna finally slipped out of your holdand ran off away from you, searching the whole mansion, walking around as Megumi stood beside you.
"I think that's enough movement for today mx." To which you just nodded sleepily and walked away from him back to your room. "Gumi... feed him please...."
Mew? (What?)
Sukuna watched as you walked off to your room, him immediately running after you his fluffy self seeming like a rug from afar.
Megumi could only sweat drop as Sukuna seemed attached and not at the same time to you as he placed the groceries down and made sukuna his dinner. Fetching sukuna from your door whom had been pawing at it as it remained closed.
"They'll let you in later... go ahead and have your dinner first." Megumi muttered as he plopped sukuna down by his bowl. Megumi taking a seat on the dining table, watching sukuna for you as you slept...
“I.. I’m umm… I’ve made a decision…” You stated quietly, as you walked up to the counter noth Gakuganji and Utahime immediately gathered up the papers and things needed for the adoption. “And who's the lucky cat?” Utahime questioned with a smile on her face.
She knew it would be Sukuna, just from the interaction earlier she knew it was enough to get you hooked onto the feisty cat. She could be wrong, and you end up choosing the two other cats you’ve interacted with the whole day, her instincts however told her otherwise.
“I…”
“I’d like to take in Sukuna please….” You answered, looking up at the two of them in the eyes. The two smiled softly, Gakuganji giving you Sukuna’s papers and Utahime updating the cat files on her computer.
Reading up the files and notes, signing up the papers and stamping a copy of your fingerprint onto the paper. You then paid up the adoption fee and let out a small breath escape as you smiled to yourself.
“All done Mx.?” Gakuganji asked,holding out his hands to take the paper as you gave it to him in answer to his question. “Thank you for adopting Mx. we will be handling the transportation of Sukuna to your home seeing as you do not have any harness with you.”
“O…oh! No need for t..that…” you answered quietly, holding up a hand. “I ha…have my car in the parking lot and my friend is there too…” you continued.
The two looked at each other and nodded to each other. “Sure mx. If you could just have the car parked nearer the entrance and we’ll get Sukuna for you.”
“Sukuna~~” Gakuganji and Utahime both called out, looking for the maine coon. Sukuna however was hiding at the highest corners of the center, hiding away from the caretakers well. His tail swished as he watched the caretakers look for him from each of the cat houses.
Both Gakuganji and Utahime continued to call out for the cat as you were right outside the door, watching as they both looked for the cat through the glass. You let out a small hum to yourself, a hand holding out to open the door.
You were hesitant… Should you really be going in there?
You lowered your hand back down, looking back up only for the door to open from the inside with Utaime holding the door open for you “Oh hey! Come on Mx. Sukuna’s really good at hiding when he wants to. We're still looking for him, would you like to help?”
You nodded at this, perking up. Sukuna hearing this, his ears perking up straight and twitching a little as he turned his head in your direction, tail freezing in place.
Meow…? Mreow…? (This human…? Adopting me?)
Mreow… (They’ll be like the others…)
Meow mreow… (I don’t want to waste time with being someone who’ll throw me right back out…)
Sukuna hissed a little out loud, showing his hiding spot to the three of you who heard him. The three of you froze and looked up to where the sound came from, seeing him right there looking like a loaf, you giggled a little as the two caretakers sweat dropped at Sukuna’s hiding spot.
Rrrrrr….
Sukuna growled as he looked at all of you below him, his fur puffing up. He didn't want to be adopted; he doesn't need it.
"Sukuna…." You whispered, holding your arms out from below him, beckoning him into your arms quietly. Sukuna watched you, his stare sharpening as he watched you. Letting out a small growl in distrust.
You blinked up at him, keeping still in your position your arms still stretched out, eyes watching him. You tilted your head a little as he continued to stare right back at you.
Mreow… (human, stop it…)

Suddenly the door opened your friend entering into the room. A tall man around your age with green eyes and spiky black hair that resembles a sea urchin, both his hands in his pockets looking at you with your arms open with a bored gaze following your body's direction with his gaze and looking above him to see the cat you've chosen.
"Uhm…." You immediately put your arms down and looking at your feet in embarrasment as your friend looks back at you with a blank stare and letting out a small sigh. "I've parked the car nearer to the entrance… come on get your cat…"
You perked up at this, looking back up and nodding. The two managers now aligning the small ladder along with a leash and a treat in hand. Utahime stepping up into the ladder with a cat treat,a her hand moving towards Sukuna's nose which twitched at the smell, his ear perking up, tail puffing up.
Mreow….!!! (Meat!!!)
He immediately reached for it eagerly licking up the cat treats unaware of the leash wrapping around his neck until it tightened around his neck causing him to stop licking the treat and letting out a loud yowl.
MREOW!!!! (PEASANTS!!! LET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!) RRRRR MEOW!!!!
Sukuna then tugged against the leash in panic, causing him to fall from his spot Utahime and Gakuganji immediately trying to reach for him as Sukuna continued to panic letting out loud yowls as he felt getting choked by the leash around his neck.
" 'kuna!!!" You squeaked, running towards the fallen cat and catching him in your arms, holding onto him tightly and immediately loosenig the leash around his neck as Utahime let her hold of it go.
"Are you alright?" You checked around his scruff as the cat wheezed and seemed to cough, fur puffed up from the fall. Giving his back a petting and a scratch to behind his ears to help him calm down.
M…. Mreow!!! Rrrrr mreow!!!! (H… human!!!! How dare you cause me harm!!!!)
Sukuna hissed as he was in your hold thrashing wildly as he wanted to attack Utahime, scratching your arms as you held onto him to stop him from jumping out of your arms.
"H… hey!!! You're okay now… please calm down!!!" You stuttered out, wincing in pain as you continued to try and calm him down which after a few seconds seemed to work and calmed the hissy cat down, claws finally retracting and fur flattening down.
You gently put him down by your legs as he sat down, watching as you moved away from him over to your friend and the managers who immediately fretted over the wounds caused by him, apologizing over and over for his actions.
Mr… mreow (Good…. N… now that human would think twice about adopting me….)
Sukuna thought as he stayed in his place, watching as they cleaned the wound on your arms and wrapping it up in a tape. He watched as you let out small whimpers from the disinfectant and your friend wiping up the small tears with a handkerchief.
Mreow….
Sukuna sat up and walked over to one of the cat houses in the cat towers entering and curling up to take a much-needed nap.
You watched as Sukuna went inside one of the houses in the tower, pouting a little as he hid himself again. You really wanted him as your cat, too bad he didn't want you as his owner….
"Do… do you want to cancel your adoption on him?" Gakuganji asked, Utahime beside him with her head down.
"No… why would I?" You asked, tilting your head in confusion.
"This is one of the reasons why Sukuna keeps getting returned to us within a few days of adoption." Utahime answered you.
"O...oh… well I plan to keep him really… I like him…." You whispered out timidly, the two managers perking up at this along with your friend who stared at you in slight surprise.
"Could I… be the one to pick him up again?" You asked "if it's alright I'd like to do it alone…"
"Yes of course mx!! Go ahead… we'll wait right here by the door and keep watch…"
"Sukuna…?" You called out, walking to the tower you saw him hide into.
Sukuna's ears twitched at your voice, waking up from his nap keeping himself curled up inside the cat house.
"Sukuna…" you softly called out again, as you peaked into the cat house that he hid himself in.
Sukuna ignored your presence, the tip of his tail wagging sligtly.
"Sukuna~~" you reached a hand him and gave him a small poke to test the waters. "Come on out…."
Mreow….
"It's alright Sukuna… I forgive you for scratching me… it wasn't your fault anyways…"
Mreow….? (What…?)
"Since earlier you were agitated after all from two people looking for you, getting leashed and suddenly falling from your high spot.,.." you continued on
Mreow…. (Human….)
You let out a small sigh and gave him a scratch behind his ears, sighing softly to yourself as he seemed to leaned into your touch, letting out a small smile before pulling away from him.
Sukuna feeling this immediately perked up and followed after your hand, coming out of the cat house, coming face to face with you, your eyes staring straight at him as was his, staring right back at you.
" 'kuna~~" you cooed quietly
Meow….
You gave him a small boop on the nose before picking him up into your arms yet again, smiling to yourself as he seemed to melt in your hold.
"Don't worry…. I'll take care of you….~~" you whispered to him, smiling softly.
“A…ah… there’s a lot to choose from…” you whispered to yourself as you watched Utahime gather up the cats and kittens together in one place so you could take a look at all of them, except for the ones that they pet sitted on. “Kitties, come on I want all of you to meet someone…”
Mreow~~ Meow~~~!!!
A bunch of mews greeted you as some of them immediately rubbed themselves against your legs as you stared down at them, squatting down and giving them small pets, picking up a certain black furry cat into your arms and petting him as he purred.
“Aren’t you adorable…?” You whispered as you placed him back down and went to pick up another cat who was a brown tabby. “You are too…” You rubbed under her chin and giggled when she licked you hand slowly placing her back down as the other cat now backed off of you after greeting you.
Utahime kept watch of the interaction as her eyes scanned around the room looking for one cat that didn’t interact with you. “Sukuna…” Utahime moved from her position behind you and went ahead to look around the towers, looking for a certain orange-redish maine coon.
He was currently inside the top of the cat tower, hiding himself the best he could. He didn’t want to interact not after that certain white cat came around and caused a lot of ruckus with two other cats. It broke his beauty sleep.
“Sukuna…” Utahime called out, pulling out a small flashlight from her back pocket and a small ladder to help her take a look at the top. You, seeing this, went over to assist her and kept her sturdy as a few cats followed after you in curiosity and interest.
Utahime then reached her hands inside the top cave of the cat tower, pulling Sukuna out of it gently, Sukunu however was not at all gentle and hissed at Utahime, claws peeking out to scratch at Utahime. He then growled and reached out to Utahime who squealed in surprise and lost her balance on the ladder, the two of them falling down.
Seeing this you immediately reached out a hand and caught Sukuna who flew out of Utahime’s hold as you other hand reached out for Utahime grabbing onto her hand helping her regain her balance as you held sukuna in your other arm.
RRrrrrrr….
Sukuna looked up at you, tail swishing in annoyance, ears flat down his head as his face was wrinkled up in a hiss. You only stared right back, blinking slowly in confusion and tilted your head in response to Sukuna’s hissing.
Sukuna continued to hiss as he stared right back up at you, not noticing that you had adjusted your hold on him, your arms now under his front paws and lower body tangling. Utahime watched both of your interactions with each other.
Watching as Sukuna slowly calmed down the longer you held him and stared at him, Watching as Sukuna’s hiss slowly quieted down and tail no longer swishing in annoyance. As he fully calmed down you let him back down onto the ground.
Mreow… (Human…)
You petted his head a little before standing back up and going over to Utahime, asking her if she was alright from the fall, letting out a small smile as Utahime nodded in answer, you then walked off silently as you played with the other cats.
Utahime and Sukuna watched this silently, Sukuna slowly taking a liking to you as Utahime watched how you got along with the cats that they watched.
Mreow…
Sukuna stood up from his sitting position and climbed up onto one of the cat towers again, gaze following right after your every movement around the cat center. You were interesting to him… Maybe… just maybe you’ve taken interest in him too?
“So Mx. have you chosen who you want to adopt?" Gakuganji asked you, papers ready to be filled up in front of him. You nodded quietly, still in a little doubt with your choice however…
Gakuganji and Utahime, seeing your contradiction, looked at each other, “Would you like some more time to think about it?” Utahime questioned you. Seeing you nod in answer the two nodded "We’ll give you a few more minutes to decide…"
You then sat by a corner of the cat center, watched as the cats slowly disappeared as people came to pick their cats up, the cats without owners going back and hiding inside their towers and others taking a nap. Sukuna however; watched you as you sat by the corner.
After a while Sukuna had enough and leaped off his place, walking over to your side and taking a seat beside you as you were lost in your thoughts.
Meow…
Sukuna mew quietly, looking up at you with a blank look. Lifting his paw up and placing it on your leg in a quiet comfort. Gakuganji’s student workers who saw this, jaws dropped at the interaction as Sukuna was never kind to anyone. Never did he interact with others too.
This was a sight.
And you? You finally decided… Looking at the cat that lent you his comfort, you reached out and patted his head with a finger, thanking him quietly. You then stood back up and went to the front desk yet again, ready to sign the papers.
