My father was a zoologist and conservationist at Durrell, a wildlife park with the primary focus of protecting and breeding critically endangered species @durrell_jerseyzoo. For many years, my father looked after orangutans and gorillas. When it came for him to leave work, Ian Singleton took his place. Ian then moved to Sumatra, where he set up SOCP (Sumatran orangutan Conservation Programme). SOCP is seen as the foremost authority on the status and distribution of remaining wild Sumatran orangutans, and are a key player in the battle to save the species and its remaining forest habitat. . .
