Hive NYC Street Squad - Teen Webmakers Activate!
In just a few weeks, Hive NYC's three high-school summer interns--Zainab, Wilson and Eddie, aka the Hive NYC Street Squad--went from playing with Webmaker projects to creating their own Thimble projects and sharing their newfound skills with their peers at six Summer Code Party events!
From kitchen table-type skillshares with other teens at the Rubin Museum of Art, MOUSE and Brooklyn Public Library, to an event with over 150 middle schools students at the Bronx YMCA (and even an outdoor flea market!), the Hive NYC Street Squad helped over 400 people learn how to remix and build the web using X-Ray Goggles and Thimble. Check out the many memes and hacks they helped facilitate here: http://hivenyccodeparties.tumblr.com/post/27728905965/hiveness1
Zainab and Wilson also created their own Thimble projects, which were inspired by the documentary, "Bully," and lead people through the process of building a webpage about a topic or issue they're passionate about.
