Rough summary of my very busy week: documentaries, reading (exclusively work related), annotating, student meetings, chess tournament support crew, running, fall prep (admin edition), journaling, research, & some house chores.

Not a super productive day but I’m gonna blame that on government induced stress (ft. a look at my notebook & dog)

Researched universities with rolling applications for S
Took some notes on the “big beautiful bill” that I’ve been avoiding thinking about in vain hope it wouldn’t pass - going to have to do more reading to see how exactly it impacts my area of research
Emailed a student
Washed a ton of dishes & picked up the kitchen
30 min bike on the peloton (trying to kick an achilles injury)
Bounced around playing new games I got with the steam summer sale (kind of productive? I’ve been in game rut recently and I think I can crawl out of it with the new games)

A little all over the place today but still got some work done!

Drafted ideas to reassign attendance points since my classes will be virtual
Made a list of documentaries & books to review
Talked a friend through the process of getting on her own insurance (happy insurance year to all my Americans born in ‘99!)
Got a hair cut (!)

Read some of my next fun book (Valiant Ladies by Melissa Grey)
Finished a chapter of my book on the history of salt

Got some much needed sleep today. The Bookseller of Florence book has me giggling, men in the 1440s to 1470s were so unhinged sometimes
Grading assignments - CV edits for my students
Building out an assignment for my students to practice interview questions
Updating the gradebook with assignments that don’t get turned in (attendance, etc.)
Took some notes on what I need to include in my nutrition presentation at camp in two weeks

Slept in this morning because we were up late last night due to the holiday
Went through the “big beautiful bill” to see what sections I wanted to look into (table of contents was intentionally made difficult to follow I swear)
Started taking notes on Title I of the bill

Went to the pool for a bit
Read another chapter about the history of Salt
Updated the calendar dates on my fall syllabi

Summer prep for fall courses has started for me because I just moved to another state and will be teaching virtually this fall which is... a bit of a nightmare to transition 4 courses to an asynchronous digital format (including one course I've never taught!). So to keep myself accountable, here I am! Once again trying a DOP challenge.
