Hiya! I have never posted an introduction on my studyblr but I feel like it’s time. I’m hoping that by doing an introduction it will actually keep me posting regularly.

My name is Reilly and I use she/they pronouns

I’m 26 years old!

I live in the US, I got my BS in Sustainable Development and I have a MA in Sustainable Communities

Starting Fall 2023 I’m going to be a lecturer of food studies !! I’m so excited to officially be teaching at a university

Fluent: English, conversational: Spanish, beginner: Italian

I’m 5’2” and salty about it

I’m a runner - I ran cross country & track for my university and I’ve been in this sport since I was 8

I love when two books I’m reading overlap while being about two entirely different things. I read a book earlier this year called the Bookseller of Florence and it spent pages talking about how several 15th century decisions in the various kingdoms of Italy were determined by wether or not the outcome would make the Venetians even wealthier than they already were (e.g. debating a crusade) but it never said WHY the Venetians are so wealthy in the first place. And now I’m reading this book about the history of Salt and salt production and this whole chapter is talking about how the Venetians got rich because of a salt subsidy and tax system that built up enough wealth they could then corner the market on grains and foreign spices making them exceedingly wealthy. Which is really cool in a very messed up capitalist way that Venetians getting rich on salt influenced political decisions across Italy.

Got some much needed sleep today. The Bookseller of Florence book has me giggling, men in the 1440s to 1470s were so unhinged sometimes

Grading assignments - CV edits for my students

Building out an assignment for my students to practice interview questions

Updating the gradebook with assignments that don’t get turned in (attendance, etc.)

Took some notes on what I need to include in my nutrition presentation at camp in two weeks

Reading all the books

Easy two mile run

Good day but I added more stuff to my to do list than I crossed off 🫠

Reorganized my desk a little

Had a long call about a presentation I’m giving in two weeks + confirmed they’re paying for the hotel 🥳

Started drafting a handout for said presentation

Grading for summer classes

Phone calls with both of my parents

Went for a long walk

Ran 4.5 miles ft. a tempo workout! Huge day on the running front

Completely crashed out today unfortunately. Gonna get some sleep and try again tomorrow.

Listened to about 2 hours of my audiobook (How To ADHD by Jessica McCabe)

Set up a meeting to discuss a nutrition presentation I’m giving at the end of the month

Ran three miles

Did a lot of groundwork in a new video game (Core Keeper) I’m playing with my friends (exploring, gardening, building storage, crafting the basics, cooking)

Rough summary of my very busy week: documentaries, reading (exclusively work related), annotating, student meetings, chess tournament support crew, running, fall prep (admin edition), journaling, research, & some house chores.
