Closing My Summer Chapter

It was the subtle breeze followed by the soft sound of waves clashing against one another. Beckoning each other for more. If you listen close enough, you’ll hear the seagulls bickering. It was supposed to flow without interruption. Gliding, effortlessly, soft, and warm but the interruption occurred. She felt lost and different. Unwillingly being changed to another version of what she was supposed to be. She held onto the things that they told her mattered. Being consumed slowly while becoming better for them. But really, who was she? Who are they? She just recalls their gestures, gently easing her in. But the interruption occurred again. Suddenly it felt empty. They moved out and took what they made of her. Now she’s forever tethered to the little that was left behind. She wondered the halls blindly until she had no choice but to face herself without interruption. Some days she felt blue, yellow, purple, red or orange. It must be why she held onto the colors so tightly. Every shade guiding her closer to who she wants to be.
