Protect Your Skin in Cooler Weather with Tips from Studio of Make-Up & Skin Health

As we transition from warm, humid weather to cold windy temps, skin care regimens need a little tweaking, says Karen Weiner, owner of SCOUTED STUDIO OF MAKE-UP & SKIN HEALTH in Owings Mills.

Here's why:

Humidity from warm weather keeps our skin hydrated and plump. When the cold temps creep in, so do lines and wrinkles. Cold air draws the moisture from our skin, making us look look dry and drawn. Skin sensitivities are more common in colder months because of the lack of hydration that can also cause red blotches and sometimes itchy skin.

Karen offers these simple tips and product recommendations to keep your skin looking its best this fall and winter. 1. Switch your cleanser to a Hydrating Cream or Gel Cleanser activated with water.

2. Don't wash your face in the morning. Instead, rinse with tepid water and a soft cloth. Your skin needs the lipid film from the night before.

3. Switch to a Hyaluronic Toner. (Hyaluronic molecule holds 1,000 times its weight in water). Spray your toner for extra hydration.

4. Use a hydrating-nourishing mask at least twice weekly (MIRACLE MASK is the bomb) for hydration and tightening.

5. Lines Serum from Skin Better contains Hyaluronic Acid to plump up the lines. (This is a hydrating acid, not to be confused with a peeling acid).

6. Switch your moisturizing lotion to a ceramide-based cream.
