. . one of my favorite places
Club Tropicana - Wham! (1983)
Loud Family - Off To Summerland
early april, late april
tie-around top. jean shorts i cut too short. a high noon with an orange "because I'm a girl." noticing that the bar floors are getting stickier as summer teases me.
i've been trying to decide what the bartender's neck tattoo means. maybe i should ask, maybe i should lean over and taunt him. i've gotten more blunt this year. the bar is empty except for me, the man i met off tinder, and a couple complaining about bud lite being woke now. they are playing pool.
i close my eyes and suddenly, the taste of a man's neck on a hot day. blindfolds, switching collars. never dominant, not always submissive. a craving for intensity to assure me of softness. a craving for more than one at once. craving everyone to just get that, getting fussy that they don't.
"that first sip feeling!" the woman of the couple says & i can't tell if it's a mocking tone or she really means it.
the man i'm with is definitely saying something, but i tune him out thinking about recent mixes. i want the snare to hit harder. i want the synths woozier. am i saying too much with these lyrics? do i care? do i need to run this by more people?
I should probably use proper capitalization. I'm young, but I'm not that young anymore.
then, the man i came with is gone. the bartender's tattoo is now covered by a rag he threw over his shoulder. the couple is making noises in the bathroom. i'm essentially alone.
