ENJOY!
I used to listen to Gwen Stefani on 106.1, staring at a dust-coated car dashboard with an overheating DS in my lap, and now I'm laying in bed on a beautiful Sunday worrying about being a sexual object vs. a sexual being.
Since the DC show, I've been tackling this droning fear head-on. The crashing after a year of hard-won battles with my health and my career. Just because those battles look different this year, I've been panicking and losing my presence.
What the fuck does it feel like to be in the moment? I guess it's always bittersweet. I sat at the park today and thought about this frustration that has been so unrelenting and distracting as of late. I thought about one of my favorite songs - Enjoy by Björk - and how it has always resonated with this part of me that seeks to control my desire.
I wish I want to stay here. I wish this be enough. I wish I only love you. I wish simplicity.
I haven't been able to write anything that has truly excited me in such a long time. I haven't felt romanced in such a long time. I crave so much and I try to write from that, but I still haven't cracked it. I will soon.
In the meantime, I have so much to be grateful for. Watching my friends fall deeper and deeper in love. Feeling at home in my body and finding new ways to treat it with care. Setting new standards and building the discipline I need to enforce them. Trying to learn more and cook more and just feel more control over whatever I can. The music will come.
xoxo Colette
