Okay but--. Imagine Sun and Emerald being friends as kids back in Vacuo. They meet one day at a market place when they both try to steal the same piece of fruit or bread. They argue over it, but get caught by the stall owner and help each other to escape from the authorities. Once they are safe, they share the piece of fruit or bread whilst getting to know each other. They have a few more encounters and quickly become friends. They work together to steal enough to get by. They pull pranks on unsuspecting people and she begins to affectionately call him 'Abu'. But one day he moves away to Mistral. Emerald is left alone again with no friends, feeling lonely and abandoned, questioning why he had to leave and why she had to face the hardships of life alone again. Thus becoming the bad-tempered person she is today. Fast forward to the Vytal Festival. Emerald is wandering around a market in Vale, and is reaching out to steal a piece of fruit until it is taken instead by a blonde tail. Looking up, she sees the familiar - but more mature - face of her old friend Sun, meeting again like they had when they first met as kids. She is speechless at first, but then just gives a small knowing grin, followed by an uttered "Abu?"
