Komori and Sakusa realizing they like men about the same time, but having opposite tastes. Sakusa likes what Komori would call "men built like a fridge, any guy that could kill him with his biceps". Komori likes what Sakusa would describe as "beanpole emo guys that look like they never slept in their entire life". If one of them thinks a guy is cute, the other one is about to throw up.

In their first year, they watch Shiratorizawa playing in nationals, and Sakusa is drooling over Ushijima, his middle school crush. Komori, on the other hand, thinks Ushijima's red-haired friend with wide smile and big eyes is way hotter. "I like when they are a bit weird" he says. (Years later, when Ushijima and Tendou got together, Sakusa and Komori mumble to each other "you wouldn't have a chance, he has good taste".)

Sakusa reads about Bokuto in Volleyball Monthly and becomes obsessed. Komori sees Matsukawa once somewhere and is about to propose. Asahi Azumane looks like a dream to Sakusa. Komori thinks Enoshita Chikara is a blessing to his eyes.

Komori needs a date? Sakusa says he should try looking in a cemetery. Sakusa needs a date? Komori says a bodybuilder contest is the right place to go. Sakusa is scared of all Komori's boyfriends because they could be vampires, Komori is scared of all Sakusa's boyfriends because they could beat the shit out of him.

"Your type is literally guys with anemia."

"Go on and kiss a brick already."

Until the All-Japan training camp. Until the night of the first day, when they lay on their bed and reveal each other that someone there catch their attention... Until the Miya twins.

Maybe their taste weren't as different as they thought.

osamu sits hunched over the dining room table that has turned more into osamu's at-home office than anything else.

motoya pulls a chair back and sits next to osamu, peering at the book osamu keeps muttering at. the new cookbook his mom had given him. his favorite thing, pouring over the new recipes, comparing them to the ones he has memorized, already planning on how to make it just perfect for his loved ones.

without osamu noticing, motoya takes one of the post-it note pads. he writes a quick "i love you" with a messy little heart- motoya could never make them even or cute. but he still likes to draw them on notes for his boyfriends.

he slides the pad back over and waits.

motoya rests his chin on his hand and tries to make sense of osamu's mumbling.

osamu goes to grab a sticky note and pauses. he glances up, gaze darting right before turning left and meeting motoya.

"oh. when did you get home?" he asks. his brow furrows, but a smile starts to bloom.

"not too long ago." about twenty minutes. almost a record for how long its taken osamu to notice something in this state of concentration for the quickest time. "you're cute with you're new cookbooks," motoya says with a smile.

osamu flushes. he peels off the top note and sticks it to his notebook. the pages are filled with sticky notes; ones from osamu's legitimate notes, and random "i love you"s and "you're hot"s from suna and motoya.

"I love you, too," osamu says, face turning a cute shade of pink.
