1-3 random headcanons i have about them:
frypan is gally's best friend. i mean, perhaps frypan is one of gally's only friends, but it doesn't change the fact that gally trusts, respects, and listens to fry the most. i think that fry can calm down gally's worst impulses, and that gally really respects how level headed fry can be. i also think that these two are actually very funny on ocassion, but no one really notices. so they tell jokes to each other, and mutter comments to the other without others really noticing.
gally is actually a pretty great keeper, all things considered. he works incredibly hard and is always there to finish the job or give you a hand, and he's always making sure everyone is safe. he likes rules. and he likes things done properly. he's strict and efficient. but if you do that, and you're pulling you're weight, he has no quarrel with you and will work just as hard right beside you. he never just kicks back while others do the hard work. he's actually really good at delegating, tbh.
you know this man will eat whatever is given to him, no matter what it is. regardless of quality, gally will just shrug and say 'it was just food.' is it a survival mechanism to eat whatever you can get your hands on? is it just that gally has no tastebuds? gally is simply a roomba. he eats it all. indiscriminately. you know there's a recurring joke where the gladers will give gally something incredibly weird or off-putting to eat (nothing that can actually make him sick, though, alby would kill them if they poisoned the keeper of the builders) and get his reaction. and if gally says it's bad, you know there's something seriously questionable about the food.
an au or fanfiction trope i think the character would do well in:

i think i just want him to have something nice and sweet for once, asdfghgfdsdfg. i want a slowburn that doesn't hurt, it just lingers. i want gally to always be on the edge of doing something, and not even noticing it for such a long time.
because here's the thing - everyone knows that gally and whoever are best friends. no one questions it, but no one ever thinks that it will ever be anything more, either, because this is gally we're talking about. the general consensus around him is that you can only have him in small doses. everyone thinks it's a miracle that gally even has a best friend. no one ever thinks there's more to it. and tbh, gally doesn't even know he wants more himself. he already sees so much of you, and he already knows you'd be by his side for as long as you could stand him, and gally isn't exactly one to ask for more. he's comfortable. you guys hang out a lot, but no one mentions it. it just is.
but lol, thomas comes to the glade, and he clocks it in a nanosecond. he doesn't think much of it since there's no talk around it - tbh, he simply assumes gally and his best friend are together. he probably doesn't even have the opportunity to mention it until teresa comes to the glade, and everyone (gally included) rakes him over the coals for clearly having a crush on teresa. do we have our first couple in the glade? are they going to annoy us with their couple status?? and thomas is blown back into the drywall because???? what do you mean first couple??? you mean that gally and whoever haven't been dating this entire time????
and this confrontation probably happens veeeeery publically, too, so now everyone is talking in the glade over ????? gally ????? best friend ????? in love ????? since WHEN?????? and gally is very red in the face, and it's all the more reason to just hate thomas, tbh, because now he has to go through 18 stages of realization that well, yeah, he actually does love his best friend - but would they ever love him? and does he even have to call it that? and ohmygod what if his bff doesn't feel the same? has he been suffocating them? do they resent him for always monopolizing their time? are they okay rn?????
and it turns out that the best friend slipped away during all of this, and so now gally has to go find them, and perhaps confess as well....
anyway it's basic but friends to lovers? with gally? sign me up asdfghjhgfds.

asdfgjfdsdghj, lol no, but please just take gally somewhere quiet. somewhere where he can lay down and listen to the person he loves talk or read. somewhere where he can fall asleep for a while and do a whole lot of nothing for the next day and a half. take him on a picnic! take him on a really long, really meandering walk. go get a cup of something warm and just talk for a while. let him tell you about his plans to build something new. offer to help him and let him tell you its enough to just keep him company.

when we were little my sister my cousin and i would use to make christmas cookies with my grandma, they were your typical butter and dough cookies shaped as christmas trees, stars, and gingerbread men, and it was fun :)
nowadays my mum is the one who does them, she keeps them the same but also makes some with chocolate chips in them that are my favourites. and of course we also have turrón and polvorones!!
