In the end, rejection is just pure pain, and fighting emotion with logic is like bringing a calculator to a knife fight.

We Should Hang Out Sometime: Book Review & Favorite Quotes
Rating: 4.5 stars
Review: I have never read a nonfiction book that I loved as much as I loved this story. The fact that it is real makes it SO much funnier, you can feel Josh’s awkwardness through the pages but he is a good sport about it and talks about all that he has learned from his experience with girls growing up. My favorite was the part about Miss North Dakota, as a former pageant girl I enjoyed that chapter and got a great laugh out of how the whole book had come from a conversation Josh had with Caressa Cameron, Miss America 2010. I highly recommend this book, it has a great moral lesson at the end and will keep you laughing all the way through! It reminds you that there is someone equally as awkward and nervous at the otherside of a relationship, the importance of talking about DTR or missing your chance, and about getting over rejection. I would definitely reread this and pick up Josh’s next book.
Favorite Quotes:
“So yeah, I was different, and there was nothing I could do about it. But when you’re faced with a significantly life-altering negative situation you can’t control, you grasp at the little things you can control. The little opportunities where you can make choices for yourself.” (p 21)
“I didn’t recall her ever being awkward, but that’s the funny thing about awkwardness. You can never tell how much of it is in your head and how much of it is real.” (p 45)
“That’s the thing about us human beings: If we have a crush on someone that person’s every behavior attracts us even more. But if we don’t like that person, the very same behavior will annoy us.” (p 254)
“To paraphrase Elie Wiesel, in relationships, the opposite of love is not hate. The opposite of love is indifference.” (p 271)
“That’s the thing about life: Just because we don’t get the answers we’re hoping for doesn’t mean they aren’t answers nonetheless.” (p 271)
