#sunny spread

These are the blocks from the Sunny Spread afghan from the Red Heart site. I am trying to make that afghan. The blocks are not hard, and they are beautiful, but when I join them, they bunch up. I guess I need to block them, although everybody says you don't need to block acrylic yarn. But what I've joined is ugly, so I will block them.

Scrappy Spread - finished!

Finished this last night, wove in the last of the ends this morning and threw it in the wash.  So soft now! 

It ended up being 50 inches sqaure(ish).  Blocking helped, but it's still a little bit off.  But that's okay, because it's handmade and those little imperfections make the item better.   Yeah, let's go with that, lol.

The border in the pattern was just not working for me.  Somehow I ended up with way more stitches on the sides than the pattern said I should.  So I just did a simple crab-stitch border and called it done.  I used a J hook for the squares, and an I hook for the border.

I'm donating this to Crazy for Natalie, and I'm hoping to drop it off when my sister and I are back home this weekend.

Finishing the border on the Scrappy Spread while watching the Blackhawks game.  I want to get this finished tonight, so that tomorrow I can clip all the ends and get it in the wash.  I'm going to donate it to Crazy for Natalie for their Winter Wonder Bash in January.  

It's a charity I've worked with before through Kohls' volunteer program, and I really enjoy helping them.  They do a lot to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis, and are really nice people.  I gave them a blanket I made last year for the WWB, and was hoping to make that a yearly donation.  So I'm hoping that when I go back home to Chicago this weekend I can drop off the scrappy spread.

Working on the border for the scrappy spread and watching The Walking Dead.  NEW EPISODE TONIGHT!!!! 

Which I will be recording and watching later, because the Blackhawks are playing the Hurricanes tonight and I need to watch the game.  Hmm.  Home hometown team, or current hometown team?  Duh! Home hometown team!!

ETA:::Apparently the game is Tuesday, so I can watch TWD live after all, lol.

Pinned out and steam-blocked.  Once it's done/dry I'll add the border, and then it'll be done!

I laid it out in my tv room, and had to put the baby-gate in the doorway to keep the dog out.  It'll probably stay up at least through tomorrow because I want to make sure it's really done before I move it.  Poor Dixie.  She loves sitting on my tv room couch and looking out the front window.  Oh well.  It's only for a couple days, she'll live.

Coming along, coming along.

I realized when I first started to put it together, that my squares were not all the same size.  *facepalm*  So as I go along, I'm measuring them and reworking the ones that are too small.  So it's taking a little longer to put together than it might otherwise.

I'm loving how the random grab is working out.  I have four more rows to put together and then I can work the border.

You're welcome!  The squares are super easy to make, and many times I was tempted to just keep going on the circle part.  I think I'm going to add that to my mental queue of projects, actually, and see how big I can get it, lol.

And thanks!  I was trying to use up my stash (but ended up adding to it), and not have it be all matchy matchy.  It's going to be donated, so hopefully it'll come out alright in the end.
