【 CH. 22 — BLACK, WHITE, AND BLOOD ; act 3, reunion 】

“You!” Seohyun’s voice comes from behind, and immediately, she turns to face him. He stands from on top of the stairs, eyes wide as he watches her catch the staff that ricochets back into her hands. His brown eyes meet hers through the mask and she sees a flash of recognition through them. “Galahad?” He sounds surprised.

      Storm forces herself to relax, loosening her aggressive fighting stance. He walks down to her cautiously and gestures for everyone to lower their weapons. Upon seeing everyone obey, she attaches her staff back to its holster around her thighs and flexes her fingers against her utility belt.

      She breathes out heavily, taking a trembling step towards him. What a sigh she must be, left hand pressing to the stab wound Maribelle had made across her waist, her kevlar suit ripped and stained with blood, and her right hand curled around herself in search of comfort. Hot searing pain sends burning tingles down her spine and she thinks she might just collapse.

       He stares at her like he has seen a ghost, and his hands are outstretched, almost inviting. She makes the mistake of looking into his eyes. Pausing in front of him, she tries not to shrink into herself before his gaze.

      “I’m bleeding, Blackbird.”

      “Really, Galahad, I had no idea,” he deadpans sarcastically. But still, he hooks one arm around her waist and the other guides her arm to rest over his broad shoulders. “Come on, let’s get you somewhere quieter.”
