Magnolia: (smiles) It was. I feel safer and happier than I have in a long time. (smile wavers) I just wish...

Donte: What? 

Magnolia: (shakes head) Nothing. 

Donte: Hey, no secrets between us, right? What’s going on in that head?

Magnolia: I just wish Aiden would have signed those papers. (Donte smiles softly) But he doesn’t have to. You’re my Dad. (smiles) I don’t need a piece of paper to know that.

Donte: (grins) You know, I couldn’t have asked for a better daughter. And no matter what, with or without a signature, you are my kid. Always!

Magnolia: You heard me! I called you a jerk. You’re such a bi-

Meghan: Watch it, slut! 

Magnolia: No! I’m sick of you bullying me! I’m sick of the names and the tricks and all the crap you’ve thrown at me since I came to this school. I just want to know why? Why do you pick on me? 

Meghan: You think this has been hard? Oh honey, it’s going to be ten times worse for you now. (takes a threatening step closer) Now we’re going to put you in your place. 

Magnolia: St-stop it! Just leave me alone, Meghan!

Meghan: (shoves her) Or what? (pushes her again) What are you going to do about it, huh? (starts to slap her) You can’t do anything! You are just a stupid, fat whore that’s forgotten who runs this school! (slaps her hard) 

Magnolia: (trips and falls to the floor crying) P-p-please. (holds her cheek and whispers) Just leave me alone... 

Meghan: (smirks down at her) Come on, girls. We don’t want to be late for practice. (turns away laughing) Later, Magnolia!

Magnolia: His name is Donte and he’s a musician. 

Aiden: A musician? Seriously??

Magnolia: (sighs) He’s the reason I need to talk to you. He wants to adopt me and I really want him to. He’s been in my life since I was a kid and-

Aiden: Hang on, he wants to adopt you? (Magnolia nods) But that would make him your father.

Magnolia: Yeah well he already is my dad in every other way. And now he’s going to be my stepdad. (takes a deep breath) I really want him to adopt me. He means so much to me and Mom. If you could just-

Aiden: No.

Magnolia: (face drops) No?

Aiden: (smiles) I’m your father. I always will be. 

Magnolia: But-

Aiden: (smile tightens) I will never sign my rights away. You are my daughter not his. Understand?

Donte: (cringes) Yikes! 

Magnolia: I’m sorry! I just can’t concentrate...

Donte: What’s on your mind, Maggie?

Magnolia: (sets down violin) Mom is filling out the paperwork today for me finish classes online. 

Donte: So you’ve decided to go the homeschooling route instead of transferring to another school?

Magnolia: (nods) Yeah, I need a break from people...

Donte: (sighs) I wish we would’ve paid better attention to all this. Maybe then-

Magnolia: Don’t. This wasn’t yours or moms fault. (shrugs) Besides, it’s over, right? (picks up violin) Now I can focus on my studies!

Magnolia: You guys have always been so mean to me. Why?

Meghan: (laughs) Cause we’re better than you and you need to be made aware of that. In fact (reaches behind to grab a slushie from Brianna) here’s another reminder! (throws drink on Magnolia)

Magnolia: (sputters) Oh my llama! (wipes slushie from her eyes) You jerk!

Meghan: Excuse me?

Meghan: Well would you look at this, ladies. Hey, aren’t whales supposed to be in the ocean? 

Magnolia: (lets out a deep breath) What do you want, Meghan?

Meghan: You’re in our gym.

Magnolia: It’s the schools gym. I pay tuition here.

Valerie: (scowls) Yeah but how are we supposed to focus on our routines if your jiggly fat rolls keep distracting us?

Victoria: (giggles) Although it would be totes funny to watch you rip those lame leggings when you bend over again!

Meghan: Do yourself a favor and just leave before you embarrass yourself. Again! (girls laugh as they walk away)

Magnolia: (sighs and thinks to herself) I hate this school...

Britney: Run along fatty!

Meghan: Hi there. I’m Meghan, head cheerleader and valedictorian. You must be new here. (Magnolia smiles and nods) Yeah, well let me help you out. You aren’t on the same level as us. 

Magnolia: (smile drops) Wh-what do you mean?

Meghan: Look at you! That nappy hair, the bright clothes from Target, even your mall jewellry. (clicks tongue) You just aren’t cut out for this school. We can smell the scholarship oozing from your pores. 

Magnolia: (lip quivers) Oh... Uh...

Meghan: (laughs) Why don’t you run along to the bathroom for a good cry?
