natsu doesn’t want to say she’s annoyed, but…well, yeah, she’s annoyed. in the grand scheme of life, her brother missing one of her matches isn’t a big deal. but when he was so adamant he wouldn’t miss it for anything, wouldn’t miss watching her play against shiratorizawa for the spring high qualifier…it makes sense to expect him to show up, right?
sorry, natsu!! reads the latest text shoyo sent her. i couldn’t make it after all…i’m so sorry!!
“stupid nii-chan,” she mumbles as the bus arrives at kamei arena. coach stands, shouting instructions to wait in the parking lot before entering altogether, the girls rising to gather their belongings. natsu squeezes her eyes shut and releases a huff. to make matters worse, when she tried asking for a reason why, he just never responded. mom hadn’t heard from him, either.
“natsu?” ichika, the team libero, leans over her seat. “you ready to go?”
“yeah.” she shoves her phone into her pocket, grabbing her backpack. “let’s go.”
the second they enter the arena, they’re greeted by remnants of air salonpas, likely from the boys’ final qualifier match earlier in the day. coach leads them to their locker room and sub-arena to start warming up, quiet as she assesses her athletes. natsu shakes off her annoyance with stretches and a light jog around the perimeter, recalling their school’s cheers and rhythmic claps, banner tied along the railings, a certain redhead standing in the crowd with a shout that drowns out everyone else…
“natsu!”
her reflexes save her from getting hit by a volleyball. “sorry!” rika calls out, hands pressed together apologetically. “are you okay?”
“yeah…” she smiles in reassurance, tries to hide her racing pulse. that could’ve been bad. she can not afford to lose her composure like this.
“everything all right, hinata?” coach asks when she returns to her side of the court.
“yes, coach. just a bit…distracted.”
“feel free to share. you know it won’t do any good to be boggled down before a match.”
natsu shakes her head. “it’s no big deal. i’ll get my head in the game when we start!”
by the time they walk down the corridor to enter the court, she’s mostly warmed up, wits steeled and ready for battle. surrounded by the best players in all of miyagi, she walks confidently behind their captain, who pushes the doors open, unleashing a roar of applause and cheers. the lights threaten to blind natsu, who raises a hand to shield her eyes, blinking to adjust them.
the stands are filled with either school’s cheer squads – niiyama girls on one side, shiratorizawa on the other. a few spectators are sprinkled in between, applauding as both teams arrive. last year, natsu only played for several rallies in the third set to give their wing spiker a break, but now, she’ll be on the court until they claim victory, no matter how long it takes.
“natsu-chan! score lots!”
“natsu! yer gonna kill it!”
she smiles at the sound of her name, turning to pinpoint the source – probably classmates from school. but then she does a double take, freezing in her footsteps, teammates around her, stumbling because of her abrupt halt. “what is it?” ichika asks.
standing among the crowd of red and white are three athletes dressed in golden jackets. bokuto continues to shout at her, waving as they make eye contact. atsumu is just as loud, thick accent making his words slightly difficult to decipher. sakusa has his hands in his pockets, mask on his face, but when she looks at him, he gives her a nod, expression clear and confident. it sends a trill of anticipation down her spine.
“i can’t believe miya atsumu is here to cheer for us!” rika jumps on her shoulders, unable to contain her excitement. “what is he doing here?”
“i…don’t know.” did her brother send them? she can’t believe they’d come all the way here, just for her.
“natsu!” bokuto is shouting. “make sure you watch where you land!”
“ya gotta show us why yer not a scrub!” miya yells after him. “yer jumps better touch the ceilin’!”
a wave of excitement overwhelms her, spilling onto her grin. “i will!” she shouts back. “i’ll show you how good i am!” they cheer back, waving their hands and whistling. sakusa, of course, doesn’t participate, simply watches.
shiratorizawa doesn’t stand a chance during the match. niiyama girls take control from the very first serve, natsu jumping for every spike and block. when it’s time for her serve, she steps back from the end line, bouncing the ball in her hand. behind her, bokuto and atsumu shout, “give us a nice serve!”
she tosses the ball, makes her approach, and jumps.
niiyama girls claim victory in three straight sets, their ace sending it home. as the final whistle blares, the girls gather for a huddle, arms wrapped around each other, tears in their eyes. natsu can’t help but swing her head to the trio, who are raucous with their cheers and applause. bokuto is crying.
the awards ceremony passes in a blur, natsu holding her head high, medal around her neck. she wears it on her way out, following her teammates down the corridor to return to their locker room – but not before they’re intercepted by the jackals.
“natsu-chan! you were so cool out there!” bokuto wraps her in a bear hug, easily squeezing the breath out of her. “you probably jump higher than your brother!”
“that wipe in the second set was nasty stuff,” miya tells her. “also, yer jump floaters? i take credit where credit is due.”
she giggles, accepting his hug next. “thanks, atsumu-nii. your tips helped a lot!”
sakusa watches from a distance, not making any move to come closer. natsu raises her head at him anyway, and he mumbles. “your receives have improved. you make a valuable asset in the back row.”
“if omi-kun is sayin’ that, ya know yer receives are godly,” miya says with a snicker. she beams.
“thank you. thank you for coming to watch, too! nii-chan never said why he couldn’t make it but having you three here is even better than him.”
bokuto grins. “he didn’t tell you why?”
she shakes her head. sakusa sighs. “the idiot booked the wrong ticket – instead of sendai, he booked a ticket for aomori. it was non-refundable.”
“an’ our flight was fully booked,” miya adds. “literally all options ta get ta sendai were out.”
“so we came, instead!” bokuto finishes. “and good thing we did, because you’ve improved so much! i’m proud!”
she blushes, bashful smile on her lips. “thank you. i learned from the best, after all!” even if her brother couldn’t be here, there’s always next time, but if she got the jackals instead…well, she’d never complain about that.
okay next one won't be posted so late i pinkie promise 😭

IT MAKES ME SO SAD WHEN PEOPLE EXCLUDE KAWAKI FROM THE UZUMAKI FAMILY STOP PLEASE 💔💔💔
he's a son and a brother, too 💔💔💔
Kawaki the oldest hokage son AU?
Okay, I had been going back down the rabbit hole of the anime again and I just can't get rid of this idea.
Hear me out real quick, what if Naruto and Sasuke never got nerfed the way they did? Instead of waiting for the threat to show itself they are actively looking out for Otsutsuki and managed to find and eliminate Kara.
This is when Kawaki was just bought and got carved the Karma, and Naruto in his signature fashion took Kawaki in and eventually adopted the boy when he heard his story. So basically, Boruto and Kawaki would become adopted brothers at the age of 4 and 6 respectively, and Himawari would be 2 years old.
Now give the sunshine siblings 6 years to grow up together and now you have a Kawaki who's not only obsessed with his adopted dad but also the rest of the family. And because he also got the Karma inside him (even though he doesn't exactly know how to correctly use it), Kawaki would be far more skilled than his peers and seniors alike. Which would also enable his toxic protectiveness that made him seal Naruto away in the canon, while it's definitely a lot healthier than whatever he has going on in the canon timeline, Kawaki would still be the biggest jerk on the block whenever someone tries anything with any of his family member.
On the side note, I'm confident this AU Kawaki wouldn't even like Boruto's friends at all. There's also a big fat chance that he won't even like how his little bro is the center of attention lmao (cause he says it attracts weird fucker like Mitsuki), Sarada can be annoying and adventurous, Inojin can be too harsh, Shikadai gets too smart for his own good sometimes, etc...
It would just be hellish for Boruto lol, on one side he has to make sure his friends don't hate his brother, on the other side he has to make sure his brother doesn't go too feral on literally everyone he meets 😭
Btw, Kawaki in ANBU uniform would be so hot ngl
NARUHINA BEING NEW PARENTS & HOLDING BORUTO FOR THE FIRST TIME IS ONE OF NARUTO'S CORE MEMORIES OH MY HEARTT
So I've been seeing some people complain that Boruto and Hima have the exact same copied face...
Not only is that funny to me, considering they're Siblings (OF COURSE they're going to look similar)
But also....
Looking at Boruto and Himawari side by side, one can see that they have different facial features (at least when Ikemoto is taking his time to draw them correctly)
Namely their eye shapes are very different
So now maybe people can stop staying that they have the exact same face copied to each other?
I'm so happy that Himawari still calls the shots in this family 😂😂😂
