#39. When it’s just you and me, that’s when I’m happy.
Michael already told you that he was going to fly home for your anniversary, even though you had told him time and time again that you were happy to come out to him. “No, I need to come home,” he kept saying, and eventually you gave in.
So with just a week to plan, you tried and tried to come up with fun things for you and Michael to do that was out of the ordinary - because ordinary was boring.
Finally the day had come for Michael to arrive home, and you met him at the airport. “Happy anniversary!” you shouted, hugging him tightly. Michael’s arms were tight around you and you felt as if everything was perfect.
“I love you,” Michael murmured, kissing you wherever he could manage to press his lips. “I’ve missed you so much.” After he finally put you down, you took his face in your hands and kissed him, giggling softly.
“I missed you too. How are you feeling?” you asked.
“I’m good. Why?” Michael asked. You shrugged and smirked.
“I may or may not have some fun things planned for you,” you said. “Come on, let’s go.” You tugged his arm gently, and after a quick stop to grab his luggage, you led Michael to your car.
“Where are we going? [Y/N], tell me you didn’t do anything super difficult. Babe, I just came to see you. I don’t need fancy stuff,” he pouted.
“I know,” you answered easily. You grinned innocently over at him and reached out to grab his hand. “Hey. I love you.”
“I love you too,” Michael replied. You two quietly chatted as you drove to a nearby restaurant. When you pulled up though, you frowned.
“Nooooo,” you whined, seeing the giant closed sign. “Why are you closed?”
“Looks like they had some sort of plumbing issue,” Michael murmured, glancing at all the trucks in the lot before looking over at you. When he saw you frowning, he pouted right back. ”Oh no, you poor thing,” Michael laughed. “That’s okay, we can go somewhere else,” he promised.
“But I had a plan,” you groaned dramatically, letting your head fall back onto the rest and roll to the side so you were looking at Michael and pouting. “I wanted today to be perfect. And that meant taking you to your favorite restaurant,” you huffed.
“That’s sweet babe. But listen to me,” Michael murmured, reaching over and taking your shoulders in his hands. “I’m here, with you. That’s all I wanted.”
“But you came all this way!” you whimpered, your eyes beginning to fill with tears. It was kind of dumb - you could easily go to another restaurant, but that wasn’t what you wanted! “You came all this way and we can’t even get your favorite meal!”
“Hey, hey, hey,” Michael murmured, unbuckling so he could move closer. “Look at me,” he whispered. Your teary eyes locked with his understanding ones and he smiled softly. “When it’s just you and me, that’s when I’m happy,” he whispered. “That’s why I came home to be with you.”
“Stop it! You’re making me cry!” you laughed, reaching up to wipe the tears away that were falling down your cheeks now. “I love you,” you cried.
“I love you too,” Michael whispered, kissing your cheek. “How about we pick up a pizza?”
“Okay,” you sniffled. “I’m still sorry.”
“Say that one more time, I dare you,” he laughed.
“How will you stop me?” you scoffed. “I’m - “
And you couldn’t get the ‘sorry’ out because Michael had pressed his lips to yours.
