You’re sitting in the bleachers, back and butt already starting to ache while you watch the game. The stands are pretty full and while there are plenty of people around that you know, you chose to sit by yourself on the end. You’ve been alternating between reading your book, cheering on your friends, and playing on your phone while eating twizzlers. Not the most exciting night, but better than sitting at home bored.
Suddenly you feel the bleachers vibrate a little as someone sits down next to you. They sit down smoothly, but too close for your liking. You can feel their body heat through the chilly air and their thigh is almost touching yours. Annoyed, you look up to find Peter sitting casually beside you. The annoyance is gone and replaced with a slight fluster. He smirks at you.
“Enjoying the game?” he asks with a slight humor in his voice. It’s obvious he’s enjoying your being slightly shocked he’s there. Not one to let Peter get to you too much, you straighten and answer him.
“It’s been pretty good so far.” He nods, still smirking. It’s obvious he’s not planning on saying much else to you at the moment. “What brought you out tonight?”
Peter has always been a drifter. Shows up to some pack meetings and helps fight and plan, but he doesn’t do social outings. The pack as whole has still been weary of him. He’s mysterious and sarcastic and has tried to kill most of them at one point. And yet, these all seem to be reasons why you’re drawn to him. He fascinates you in just about every way and it might be the crush talking, but you’ve found that you even trust him.
“Came to see you.” His voice has the slightest hint of a drawl to it and it makes your skin crawl in a pleasant way. You look out at the field, hoping for a distraction.
“Oh, okay,” you say, unsure of how else to respond to that. You can tell he’s still looking at you, can feel his eyes pouring over you even though you’re covered in a thick coat. Out of the corner of your eye, you see him reach out to the bag on your lap and steal a twizzler from you.
You watch as he takes a bite out of it and that simple motion of stealing your food suddenly relaxes you. You let out a small laugh and slap his arm.
“Thief!” you claim and as he’s chewing, he smiles back at you. It’s rare to see him actually smile and you find that you like it. His face lights up some and he looks younger and happy and it’s just flat out contagious.
You both keep smiling and watching each other. He brushes his leg against yours and suddenly you’re too warm. Your body heats up beneath your layers of clothes and your smile fades from your lips as your stomach flutters.
“Feel like going for a walk?” he asks.
