SU Theory: Super-Connie

Steven has many magical abilities, and we have been shown that they are tied to his emotions. I think that this also applies to healing spit. Many people proposed that Steven’s inability to heal after “House Guest” was not due to his lack of confidence, as the gems suppose, but instead because he was trying to heal inorganic things. But then, when M.C. Bear-Bear got a tear-tear, Steven was able to heal him. So, was it lack of confidence after all? I say no. I say that healing spit is tied to Steven caring about the thing or person being healed. Perhaps even to the point that the more deeply he cares, the more his spit will affect them.

So imagine a healing spit that affects you more the more Steven cared about you. And then imagine that Steven cared about you more than anyone (and he already cares so much about everyone.) And lastly imagine that you didn’t just get a slap of a spitty hand on a wound, but you actually drank the magical saliva. As we all know, this is exactly what Connie did.

Connie used to need glasses to see well. Her eyes weren’t the best, but I also don’t think they could be considered “injured.” Her eyes were, structurally at least, just fine. When she took a sip of Steven’s mouth juice however, her eyes weren’t just healed. They were improved. I think this is the signal we get that Connie Maheswaran was forever changed at a fundamental level. She has even been later shown to do amazing things that no 12 ¾ year-old should be able to do. She can effectively wield a sword the size of her torso, and she learned sword fighting so well and quickly that Pearl described her as an “expert.”

Speaking of swordsmanship, Connie is literally being trained in combat by a 10,000+ year-old immortal sword master. She is getting one-on-one combat training, and thanks to the Holo-Pearls, she is getting what is essentially real combat experience instead of just sparring with sticks and pads. This girl is on her way to being one of the best swordsmen in history before you even consider the possibility of her magical enhancement.

All-in-all, Connie is already amazing, and she might be becoming something even more incredible. In the future, she may get even more kinds of training from other gems. She may fight all kinds of monsters and alien soldiers on a regular basis. She might gain even more enhancements from fusions with a magical alien hybrid. She might even swap spit with Steven a few more times, while all of this fighting and training is going on.

I think this girl is being set up to be earth’s champion, and I can’t wait.
