This is my cover of "Super" by the band I'm Turning Into. They're an awesome Brooklyn band who is still playing today. You can hear the original here: http://imturninginto.bandcamp.com/track/super
The lyrics are pretty cryptic, but it seems like a morose love song, sometimes agitated, dipping occasionally into secret self-loathing. It slides between the happy crescendos of a real feeling for someone and the frustrations that feeling causes when things don't stay perfect.
I recorded the cover using only piano because I'm Turning Into is a bustling metropolis of guitars and pedals, and the piano offered a good contrast. Also, right now the only instrument I have at home is a piano. So, yeah.
Anyhow, there's a different mono take in each ear as well as a hyper reverbed track down the middle. I thought it made for a more cinematic feel and also stayed true to the kind of sleepy disheveled quality of the original.
I released this track on my bandcamp on the Compadre EP. Download it free if you like it!
