Pokemon Card of the Day #2184: Super Rod (BREAKthrough)

Super Rod was back in the BREAKthrough set after a short absence. It was still an Item card that let you shuffle 3 in any combination of Pokemon and basic Energy cards from your discard pile into your hand. This was a nice addition to a variety of decks if there was room for it, especially if a deck did run more heavily on basic Energy since those decks had a bit more flexibility in getting needed Energy or important Pokemon. The one thing with Super Rod is that it tended to be one of the last cards to get into a deck, and sometimes you’d rather use that last slot or 2 on a card with a different effect. Super Rod was something that would work in a lot of decks, however, and it saw a decent bit of competitive play despite not being very specialized.
