abandoned empress tangent
warning! some spoliers for the abandoned empress! nothing big, but spoilers none the less!
okay so when asteria told allendis about the past and he didn’t believe her. reasonable response but ouch for asteria. but this got me thinking. what if she told carsein instead?
i’m not sure how but i think i have a reason for why this would happen.
asteria is very cautious but she’s not dumb either. she has to know that carsein is very keen to picking up emotion or extremely perceptive towards it anyway.
like our boy carsein was keeping an eye on ruvellis during his entire visit at the monique estate while her dad was away. and noticed what happened with allendis and asteria during a very crowded ball of all things. so, back to the question.
what would happen if asteria told carsein about the past because of how perceptive he is?
she wouldn’t even intend to, it would probably go down like how she confessed to wanting to be the head of the monique family. it’d just... slip out ya know? becuase carsein is someone you can do that with if you’re not careful.
so it slips out
gonna say during training or at the monique estate while everyone is gone
and asteria is just,,, blank while telling him this and he’s getting more and more horrified about two things
1. his friend is telling him about all this terrible stuff that happened to, including her own death without batting an eye
2. she doesn’t seem to be lying
so, he’s at a loss how to respond because what the fuck man?
i do think he’d believe her though how he’d go about saying that would be messy because he’s not good with words
“You don’t think I’m telling the truth do you?” same words that asteria told allendis when she told him. but that would spur him to respond
“I don’t think you’re lying,” he’d be blunt. Leaning on his knees to actually look at asteria. like hell he’d abandon his friend like this. He’d be clear and steady with his words. “You’re not the type to do that. You say what you mean. You’re telling the truth, aren’t you?”
insert a baffled and teary asteria. because he believed her, he believed she was telling the truth
“asteria, you wouldn’t lie about this and I understand why you thought that. it does sound...” unreal, ludicrous, insanse, but.. “you wouldn’t lie about this. i’m glad you trusted me enough to do that.” she probably didn’t mean too. judging from how she looked at him.
“you, you really believe me?” now asteria is crying, trying to wipe away her tears because the guards are just out of hearing distance but they can still see her.
“of course, why wouldn’t I? we’re friends and i promise you that I won’t let that happen.” he wouldn’t, not to an enemy and certainly not to a freind
the result of this is that carsein and asteria get closer together
less informal
which leads to interesting reactions in the future
i don’t man, i just really wanted carsein to know what happened before allendis
