Bad Rock Puns or Something (Event) || Roark & Steven

The Valentine's Gala at the Oreburgh Coal Musuem is one of his least favorite events, probably because it entails a day he never celebrates. Really, the only reason he goes every year is to take advantage of the free food. Being the head of Ancient Pokemon Expedition Operations, he's allowed to attend the party with the rest of the scientists.

Roark laps at the chocolate fondue fountain like a wild animal, savoring it because it's the only thing he's going to be getting out of tonight. Licking his chops, he discretely wipes his hand through the pocket of his rented tuxedo and grabs a strawberry, stuffing the thing in his mouth.

"Hello, Roark!"

Roark gags and swallows the strawberry whole, awkwardly licking his chops of any leftover chocolate sauce as he comes face to face with Dr. Kenzo, head of the Paleontology Department.

Kenzo gives him a knowing smirk.

"Was I, ah, interrupting something?"

Roark shakes his head, sweating profusely.

"Um... no! No, sir!" He breaks a nervous grin. "I, uh... what do you need, Kenzo?" he asks. "I know the fossils have been slowing coming and all, but if I just had a few more days..."

"Oh, no, I understand that!" the scientist reassures him. "I was just worried about you because you weren't participating in any of the activities. You just kind of looked lonely back here and I thought..."

"It's okay." Roark shrugs. "It is Valentine's Day and I don't have a partner, which is what most of these events call for..."

"That's not a problem."

"Eh?" Roark gives him a look.

"You can just find another single and ask them to pair up with you..."

"That's okay," he answers abruptly, "I really don't like games..."

"And did I mention every pair that participates gets entered into a raffle for tickets to the National Paleontology Conference in Kanto this year?"

Roark's mouth runs agape.

"SIGN ME UP!" he cries to the heavens, running off in the throng of people, weeding out the singles to help him in his noble quest. But he isn't watching where he's going, and he bumps into someone.

"Oof--sorry!" he apologizes, adjusting his spectacles. But when his vision comes back, his jaw drops at the familiar sight of the silver-haired man before him. "Steven?" he asks. "Wow, it seems we keep on bumping into each other, ahaha..."

『Adventures in Kalos』 || [Sapphire & Steven Stone]

Lumiose City: she'd heard the name many times, but had little knowledge of the actual beauty it beheld. Upon arriving at her first stop - the city's Pokemon Center, naturally - Sapphire's gaze whipped around as she processed the scenic atmosphere, marveling at the many shoppes and boulevards, as well as the colourful crowds that traversed the streets.

But she mustn't be diverted from her main cause. Kalos was at the center of the phenomena known as "Mega Evolution" - a rare form of evolution that many of her Pokemon were capable of using. It was Sapphire's desire to master this power, and take her Pokemon to the next level.

"Mega Stones" were required in this transformation, and Kalos was the only known region in which they were found.

And, if anyone knew where they were located or how they were utilized, it was one man and one man alone: Steven Stone. She was able to track him down, zeroing in on the city of Lumiose, where he was supposedly last spotted...
