A temporal silence befalls the Director's ready in 3.. 2.. cue, and inwardly the actress is just a sliver of excited on who her date was. Sure it came with its own bane on how most men just wanted to talk either about themselves (only) or about her (only) that it bordered on creepy on both ends of the spectrum and ended up being painfully unappealing for her. Stifling a yawn as the camera panned to her view, the pink-haired woman flashes a semi-nervous smile and a wink to the recording light, just as a hustle from the front door steals the attention just mere moments after—

A-l-right. 

What gives?

They watch in silence, and she sees the producers with mouths agape from her peripherals; but she winces through the unsettling silence with a forced smile. Honestly can't say this was exactly who she had expected of Gerald here, and considering the info they produced on him earlier – he wasn't exactly the one they were looking for either. But with cameras rolling and showbiz being showbiz, Chali swallows the discomfort with a greeting to the question.

It's not going to be that bad right? Sure he looked a little rough on the edges and slightly unkempt but it's the kind of bad boy dynamics viewers lapped up right? Right. Swallowing her worries down one final time, Chali flashes a trademark grin at the looming stranger, who actually looked just a little cute now that she's had a better look at his rather.. dashing scowling face.

Gerald? Do I still call him that?

"Mr... Gerald, yes? My, you're not exactly what I expected but I'm sure we're all excited to be here on the live broadcast of A date with the Stars... it's lovely to meet you, I'm Chali Dan, from the Unova's Pokéwood!" Tentativity is laced in her voice as her sidelined Director shuffles through his place-cards urgently in some hope that this mistake wouldn't mess up the show, but.. no go! You've gotta wing it, Chali! 

"No need for formalities now, please, take a seat and tell the viewers more about yourself! I'm sure they're all dying to know more about you!"

And so is everyone in the room.

♦ - What is one thing about them that they are most proud of?

Making it to the big screen when no one said she could do it. After all, when the naysayers came out to play, she simply just tried and tried again until she made it. 

✕ - How do they handle rejection?

(In the aspect of showbiz) She would mope for a bit, but eventually Chali has enough rough skin to brush off the dust. While it doesn’t mean that she will rear her head at it repeatedl y at the same place(because she can accept rejection), she will simply try harder the next time round or exhaust her means in that current time and ask everyone to at least take a look at her portfolio. 

Now her manager is the one who does it for her but it doesn’t change how she deals with the N-O.

☮ - Do they have an idol or someone they look up to?

Chali looks up to ….. a childhood friend named Avery who became a pokémon breeder because he was brave enough to do what he wanted despite of it’s low appeal factor. 

To some extent, she also looks up to Lysandre and admires his charisma, appeal, and passion; if even his intentions are slightly… skewed. He did pick her off the street and give her a warm place to stay after all – and he isn’t inherently bad per se.

♠ - What are they afraid of?

She's worked hard to build her career up from the ashes – and having done it twice, it's become her life and soul. No doubt losing her entire livelihood and passion would be what Chali is most afraid of; but currently, being found out regarding her stint with Team Flare is the highest posing risk and anxiety-contributing factor to the woman. 

Not only is it going to cause her career; it's also going to cost her as a person.

"Life’s unfair," his voice is soft: thoughtful even. He leans back, away from her, but his fingertips brush against the tips of hers from their placement on his knees. At the age of twenty, he’s all gangling limps with sharp edges; maybe he should start taking better care of himself, but the initiative for that is buried under layers of armor that he’s wearing to protect himself from any more pain that the world has to offer to him. He’s so incredibly fragile nowadays, but with Chali that melts away. He’s aware she could destroy him with a flick of her wrist.

He wishes she would. (if only she’d be that spark to send him over the edge into oblivion) (sweet, sweet oblivion)

His mouth lifts up in the smallest, secretive smile. “Wishful thinking, Chali. Bad move on anyone’s part, because we have to live with our decisions, no matter how sad or mad they make us. No matter our regrets,” when he looks up, his eyes are sad, but there is still that smile on his face. Everything about him is so sweetly, sickeningly sad.

Blatantly, his smile drops; his mouth opens and all the flies come out, dust flies out into the space between them in forms of words that seem foreign. “I tried to kill myself, again. Not your fault; I doubt you should even care. I’ve been in and out of treatment. I reconnected with my mother; I’m going to be a gym leader.” All the words just sound like he’s purging all these truthful things.

He chokes though; the dust fills his lung. “My best friend is a traitor, and I can’t fix all that’s broken around me.” He sucks in another breath. How am I remaining my composure? Why am I saying all of this? Shut up, shut up. 

"Would you kiss me if I asked you to?"

It should have hit her like a desert storm – the way his sadness romanticized his self-harm; but it doesn't, and inwardly she's sick of herself for the feeling of expectation that sinks. She's seen the wounds that ran around his wrist like bracelets and scars that have become his armor; but sorry is not the topmost feeling she has toward the jet-haired trainer. Still, she struggles to placate some shock into her expression – brows knitted and lips pulled into a sad frown even as he spoke of future plans: I'm going to be a gym leader. In response, Chali smiles, if even short-lived, fingers laced feebly with his and dancing against his knees as the conversation took another deeper plunge in the end of morose and melancholy.

My best friend; Silver is the name her mind comes up with– but traitor is not something she had ever thought he would say of him. Somehow even with why laced on her tongue, the actress knows better than to give in to the nagging importance the explanation would render. Perhaps, even filling in some gaps for the reason on what had caused such a molotov reaction in the boy and reckless decision for such a career — a sharp intake of breath pulls her attention to his mouth;

Would you kiss me if I asked you to? 

No hold backs; and even she herself is surprised between chapped lips, tongue, a taste of coffee and simmering nervousness. Upon instinct, fingers wrap to the front of his shirt, soft fabric clutched with eager hands and a mouth that wanted only more. It seems like so long since she had felt such a strong emotion between herself and anyone, but a sudden jerk of the carriage pulls the actress away with wide-eyed gasps; sorry thrown in haphazardly as she fumbled with the embarrassment at the lack of control over her actions. 

What would he think of her now? Perhaps it was an emptiness she had always wanted to fill between them; a line that was always toed in the past but now finally crossed along with burning cheeks and magnetism dancing on her parted lips. Her hands fold shyly in her lap as eyes struggled to avert his liquid gold optics;

but maybe—

Lately did you ever feel the pain In the morning rain, even as it soaks it to the bone..?

Chali's Big Bad was a rescue pokémon from Team Flare. She was supposed to return it upon her dismissal from the syndicate, but the Mightyena was too feral and attached to the trainer and was thus given graciously as a parting gift.

The girl was right, never before had Anton encountered someone who lived up to their cover, frills hiding sinister thoughts and gruff textures suffocating childish personalities deep inside. Her choice of words perplexed him.. Officer. So, she believed the uniform after all.

The footrest was inviting him, so was her silver tongue, her courage and wit made Anton smile. How interesting, his body collapsing onto the stool, legs spread apart with his hands draped between them. Once again, she was baiting him with curiosity surely, Bitch.

"Well, your cover is awfully colourful." he stated, eyes locked with a challenging glare into hers. This woman didn’t show much emotion to Anton, no openings for him to wriggle his way into her mind like a disgusting worm. He had no desire to run, not since she had entered the room and feigned trouble like the sneaky bug she appeared. "Though, I must say.. you’re a victim of your own advice." he quipped, tugging on the threads of his jacket between thumb and forefinger.

A pleased smile pulls on her features as weight lands on the ottoman, the almost kindly features that had softened on the other's face instantly hardening up into something more defiant and fiery the second he was comfortable. Awfully colorful, the nameless Officer says, and Chali resists the urge to twirl the luscious pink mane between her fingers –much like how she wished she could play him like a fiddle but no.

His words are cutting like glass and she is just a little too masochistic to give it up yet. She was indeed lost and fascinated by his charade now, and as much as she would hate to admit it – it was the actress who was trapped in the webs of deceit.

Chali, is it? The actress nods, glancing warily at the door in case her bodyguard would decide to enter for his routine evening checks. So what's so special about you then? Fingers stroke the purple-tinted hues of the Vaporeon in her lap – his answer to the question.

"Nothing special, really.. Launder money though, that's a new accusation."

Quietness laced between his words for barely a heartbeat before condescension takes her attention away from the beret in his hand. It's a smirk she would have loved to slap right off his smug little face but the hint of sadness and regret shines through his callous words, causing the actress to relent with lips pulled in concern unwittingly. The smile that had caught her off-guard with a regretful oh escaping and a hand reaching out for a comforting pat, but no—

She retracts her hands before they pass the halfway mark between them, fingers pulled sharply back into the palm of her flesh. 

Criminal. The accusation runs deep in her blood as her mind races for an answer to his open-ended statements. What's so special about you? Surely the answer was blatant in all her pink-frilly dressing room glory, and he did choose Pokéwood of all places to break in. Actress would be an insult to his common sense, really. 

Regardless of blatancy, she states her occupation. "—Nothing terribly wrong or special about me if that's what you were wondering. Though it would seem you haven't been following the tabloids, for which I thank you." 

As she sing-songs her praise, light steps prop her up on the plush chair she was seated on previously, hands spread apart gesturing the headlines she had stolen all over Unova's papers over the past years. "Chali Dan! Chic Actress that feigned her death to go into hiding." Her blue eyes latches quickly onto his face, a genuine performance smile flashing when she was certain she had captured his attention. "Actress Extraordinaire returns to showbiz after four years..!" 

Pride radiates from her extravagant pose atop of the self-proclaimed diva throne, hands akimbo and heartbeat palpitating against her ribs while she closes with a small bow. "Small town girl, actually. Nothing fancy about this name, nothing fancy here to gain either.. except bright lights and and halogen dreams—"

"The restaurant’s as clean as it can get," Chili assured him. "You’re getting waaay too worked up over your girlfriend.”. Cress clenched his hand into a fist in frustration, but soon released it. He knew there was truth in his brother’s statement. “She’s not…my girlfriend.” He replies softly in defence. It was going to be a dreadfully long day.

PokéStar Studios had rent out the entire restaurant for the day for an event they were holding for one of their stars. Normally, the bluenette would have refused to grant anyone permission to rent out the café, but the Studios had made an offer that not one of the triplets could resist. They had offered to pay more money than they would have earned together working for two days. There was no backing down on such a wondrous offer.

Not only would he be gaining high profit and publicity, but this was a very special star. Chali… He mused. He couldn’t help but feel a bit giddy at the thought of being able to speak to her again.

"But, Cress…this is a…um…blind date…thing. Don’t you… feel upset that she’ll be…ah…spending time with other guys?" Cilan had pressed. Truthfully, it didn’t bother the water specialist in the slightest. What was the possibility that she would truly fall in love with any of those fans? She most likely wouldn’t be spending much time with them because from what he had heard, there was going to be hundreds of fans lining up to be the actress’ alleged blind date.

Cress watched from the kitchen doorway as Chali strode through café doors. He motioned for one of his waiters to seat her at the table centered perfectly in the middle of the restaurant. PokéStar Studios may have bought out the restaurant for the day, but the room was not, by any means, close to being empty. One row directly behind the row containing the center table was a row allowed specifically for magazine reporters. The reporters had moved as close as they could possibly get to the actress without passing the divider between them and were noisly making predictions about the event into their respective cameras.

"Send the first one in."

A waiter opened the grand restaurant doors and escorted a young man holding three boxes of chocolates and a bouquet of flowers in his arms. Tch. Cress scoffed. Was the boy aware that the pink haired star wouldn’t even be allowed to eat those chocolates? He had noted that upon entering the café, the actress hadn’t seemed too enthusiastic. At that moment, he completely understood why.

Boredom is laced on her expression for the minutes of silence that followed. She feels the tens of pairs of eyes from eager reporters arrest her frame from all directions, cameras poised and boom mics extended and hovering over the table. Inspecting her nails for the brief moment before the first date comes in, Chali preps herself with a smile.

"Hi there!" she chimes, perhaps a little too chripily; a little too happily for the tumult she felt inside. Charisma radiates from the smile she flashes at the smartly dressed male, a sense of faux surprise mimicked as the flowers and chocolates are presented to her. Baby's breath and chrysanthemums – and her brow quirks slightly in surprise (actual this time) as the man sits down, an explanation immediately accompanying the reason he knew of her actual favorite flowers and not those "Chali likes roses" bullshit the magazines published. 

How..?

"The flowers are lovely." A polite comment, a gentle sniff as the actress once-overed the man before her. Not bad-looking, she muses as a compliment is served on his words like honey and butter; not as lovely and ravishing as you. 

With a dismal wave of her hand, a slight chuckle escapes the actress. She had already begun to feel inclined to the charming stranger as he peppered their light conversation with interesting trivia; things that were actually different from the typical run-of-the-mill questions fans would ask. He made her feel as though he wasn't just a fan, but a friend – dangerous territory, really.

"I think I am a little hungry now; shall we have some light tea, Mr. Gerald?"

There was something undeniably off about the whole situation, thought she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Something.. something, but what?

So much time has passed between them; changed him, not only her. Gazing at her, he can see how different she is, which only entices him more when it should push him away because she’s not the same Chali that he had seen the last time — when was the last time? he thinks as a glimmer of a memory shines bright in the back of his mind: Kalos? He pushes the memory away, because he’s been unsure about it since he had experienced it. Dream had plagued him about that girl. 

For a moment, Gold thinks he can feel something in his damaged fingers when Chali interlaces their fingers, but he categorizes it as his mind playing games with him. He lifts from his seat, and smiles warmly at the pink-haired woman standing with him.

Secrets are hidden behind dulled blue hues as fingers reach out for her hair, the flash of pink from the corner of her eyes now tucked behind her ear in a gentle sweeping motion – her heart melting at the sight of warm honey gold flecks dancing in the light. As the structure creaked slowly during its ascent, Chali looks away with a coy smile in reciprocation with furtive glances stolen as the other seemed to pay no mind to his earlier gesture; his attention was now fixated on the climbing horizon of Nimbasa City beneath them and not on her. 

Is there a spark? 

And again, as though he hears her innermost thoughts, warm hands lace with the fingers folded in her lap with gentleness that could sooth a savage Mewtwo; and a smile tugs gently when the words he articulated to her so often presents itself like a delicate rose before her. You are so beautiful. She blushes – for reasons unknown. There is something different about the way he says beautiful that makes Chali feel like it isn't just another compliment, not just another wonderful dahhling fed to her like morphine. Gold's words are not mere pacification, no.

They are so much more. 

"Thank you."

Mechanical noise fills their silence and just for a moment, and Chali forgets the world beneath them. Fingers graze bruised knuckles and shaking hands absently, a frown creasing her smile when she notices the scarification that were resultant of years of his self-loathe. Even as she ruminates at her inability to be there for him, the unhappiness is cut short as the mechanics in the structure pause somewhere near the top where the first carriage gets a 2-minute bird's eye view of Unova City. 

Her home, for a bit— She muses with her fingers still intertwined with his, another hand supporting her chin as she watched a pidove fly by outside. Unova is beautiful, a region paved with advancement and every path a golden brick road; but recently, she feels lonely.

"I hope life has been treating you well, Gold. I'd hate for anything to have happened when I was gone – I could never.. forgive myself for it." You're a liar, do you even care? You are selfish. You wanted him here for you instead of being there for him—

But home is where I am with you. 

"—I wish I could've stuck around more."

There were few things that got the actress openly angry, considering veterans in the showbiz industry always had to keep their cool and provide diplomatic, political answers that wouldn't cost their career. A level head, and answers that were vague yet satisfying at the same time; circles danced around questions that prodding reporters and paparazzi asked about their personal lives, viewpoints on so-and-so of a controversial issue–

Yes, few things upset her brazenly, and this was one of the things.

Chali's brows furrowed as hastened steps made their way down the hall, hands clutching the note that her manager had slipped onto her dresser. "What do you mean I have to go on a blind date with my fans? This is unfair." The actress' fingers reached up for her temples, massaging them lightly as the stout woman's nails-on-chalkboard voice and cacophonous laugh coaxed a throbbing behind her skull, a tch muttered under her breath as the Outfit came around and begun to compare outfits against her frame.

"I don't want to." Another sentence laced with indignation that falls on deaf ears, dismissive hands waving her concerns off with a it's all for show, dahhling. You'll need to build your name up again and paparazzo is the cheapest way to do it~! Resentment bubbles with fast defeat, and before long, the pink-haired woman finds herself whisked in a white limousine to the region-famous Striaton Restaurant. 

Several dates okay, dahhling? Just a quick one, say hi~ Air kissies, and buh-bye! 

Easier said then done— 

Stepping out of the vehicle, the actress flashes a smile at the eagerly awaiting crowd, lips poised for a flirtatious pout at the hopeful fans who milled about as close as they could. "Are you my lucky date?" She calls, she winks, eliciting a tidal wave of pick me, Chali, knowing that everything had already been pre-selected without her knowledge. Internally, she groans as a waiter escorts her to the central table, eyes narrowing on the row of crystal roses likened to something on The Bachlorette. Rolling her eyes at the five floral displays, she takes her seat with little grace, boredom apparent in her expression.
