It's the 15th consecutive day of heavy rain in Sydney's Inner West with totals in the gauges at 600mm+ and it's still raining. The Outer West has been hit much harder. Fully 1200km of the Australian East Coast has been in catastrophic flood between 26°S-33°S with widespread destruction, after a series of the dreaded East Coast Low superstorms rolled down from north to south, and it's still on-going. 21 people confirmed dead, many more unaccounted for, hundreds of injured, thousands of emergency rescues, tens of thousands of people left homeless, food & medicine shortages, drinking water contamination, tremendous building & infrastructure wreckage, massive crop and stock losses. More than half a million people under evacuation orders at one point. A whole town housing 35,000 folks was essentially wiped out overnight. La Niña in full fury. Defence force deployed. In a world gone mad, our own little disaster. Hard times.
