 I have concluded that my favorite kryptonian power is super-hearing.

I just realized something about YJ: DW—Superboy won't be the only person with super hearing since Danny has super hearing, too. I wonder if they'll use it to low-key annoy the other members of the Team, like saying "Do you hear that?" and not elaborating xD Thanks for writing such a great fic!

Okay, so something I think I should probably clarify is that Danny’s “super hearing” is very, let’s say, conditional in YJ:DW.  It’s not so much a permanently active thing that he’s aware of and can consciously tap into like Conner can,  and more of a stress response/ hypervigilance deal.

When Batman and Robin first find him, Danny’s been on the run for roughly 9 months and is carrying around a lot of unresolved traumas due to the losses he’s suffered and being hunted by a highly skilled, seemingly ever-present organisation who’re trying - and on one occasion very nearly succeeded - in capturing and experimenting on him for study, none of which he’s been able to stop and process.  At this point his senses are basically a bunch of raw nerve endings and his reactions are on a hair-trigger.

Once he gets to the Batcave and is able to properly internalise the idea that he’s actually safe things start to drop back down to a more normal level (although as a halfa his baseline will always be a little above the average human).   He could probably sense heartbeats at up to 10 yards in a quiet space if he focused, but there’s a difference between hearing potential threats in a dead silent storage locker when you’re jacked up on adrenaline, and being able to calmly listen in on a whispered conversation across a room the way Superboy can.

That said, would Danny be the kind of person to make quips and inappropriate remarks under his breath to make Conner fight back laughter for seemingly no reason once he realises he can hear him?  He absolutely 100% would.
