We had amazing weather in Boston over the weekend -- 65F/18C -- so I got to get out and play radio for a bit. It was super windy, so there was no point in using the mic, but CW pretty much always works. Propagation was iffy and I had 30M drop on my in the middle of a nice ragchew with K8FE. But for me, the best was on Sunday. I heard PY6TV calling CQ DX on 20M. That's a Brazilian call and I haven't worked much DX since I've moved up to Boston. The odds weren't good that I could make the Q, of course. The Super Antenna MP1 is pretty good as compromise antennas go, but it's still a compromise antenna, and I'm only running 100W. But it costs nothing to sent my call, and I was pleased that he came back to me! That's about 4200 miles/6800 kilometers. I'm pretty pleased with that! #HamRadio #SuperAntenna #ICOM #CQDX (at Boston, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7Q_9ZfgUTN/?igshid=1xmx1i34k1pot
#superantenna #mp1 set up in the RIB, I’ve got to get under a bridge before I start so can’t fit my buddipole whip to it yet :-) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1ifflMD0c-/?igshid=1ugd7datwrj8a
Setting up my tender with my dual #superantenna #mp1 for today. I’m taking part in British Inland Waterways On The Air #biwota at various times over the weekend. I’m hoping to make a few SSB voice contacts from the RIB as well as some on #js8call This must be the smallest boat with a HF radio station aboard I think? I may be able to set up the #dxcommander by the river later today. And if time allows I’ll try a couple of satellite passes too. I’ll be on 40m first today, and on 2M 145.500 for local contacts. https://www.instagram.com/p/B1ifSS2jM78/?igshid=16hej3l1zejth
#superantenna #mp1 set up as a dipole for 6M. A quick go on FT8 shoes it works. Didn’t stay long as it’s very windy. I’d estimate gusts of up to about half a million knots. At least :-) #amateurradio #hamradio who wants a sched of #JS8Call on 6M? But not today though. https://www.instagram.com/p/Byc7ccsDSmJ/?igshid=hq7948ewvxqc
Assembling the extra parts I need to make my two #superantenna #mp1 into a 6M dipole. Just two additional connectors and a tape measure required. 2x extension rods and one telescopic whip required for each arm of the dipole each side needs to be about 1.4m or 4ft 7inch. The superantenna system really does give me all the bands my radio can use which makes it a great antenna for portable ops. The only thing I still really need is a new universal mount with an antenna mount at both ends if you are reading this #superantenna Systems Corp ;-) https://www.instagram.com/p/BycPd-gjEme/?igshid=porw5kxizfaj
#icom #7100, dual #superantenna #mp1, #js8call and 20watts on 40M. Happy with the results. https://www.instagram.com/p/ByIhkqHD7Mf/?igshid=lq5e26s3j8dw
#js8call by the sea again today. #superantenna #mp1 lazy L proving to be easy to set up and tear down and great performance for the size. #hamradio #amateurradio https://www.instagram.com/p/ByIeIv1DuRt/?igshid=b53eshp52wgb
