started writing a superbatlois fic and i've been hard-leaning into farmboy clark. he raised chickens for show, they're all named and he has about a million photos of each of them. when he hears the phrase "barn wedding" he assumes it's happening on someone's family farm to save money. he builds cat shelters for strays based on his barn cats. he habitually cans produce before it can go bad and he makes marmalade every february to hand out around the neighbourhood. he believes wholeheartedly in the gift basket because it's an easy way to take care of your neighbours—some knit socks, some fresh veg, some jam and preserves, maybe a parcel of bacon or a carton of eggs, whatever is in season and fresh. he was on a sheep to shawl team as a teenager and kind of really wants to start a team in metropolis but he's worried it'll conflict with superman. he thinks city drivers wouldn't survive on smallville roads. he buys his jeans at tractor supply. he has a healthy fear of the corn field. if you even offhandedly mention any interest in his chickens you are subjected to an hour long slide show of chicken pictures. he's really good at identifying carrion birds and raptors by their flight patterns without any enhanced vision. he's the guy that people know when they "know a guy" and need a scarecrow for something quick. midwestern farmboy clark is just so fun to write.
