happy sleepover saturday! any cool/fun/weird stories recently?
ough happy sleepover saturday!!! tbh my brain is Completely Blankijg bc i am. eepy. but!! probably the classes i’m excited for this semester and one of my profs is great and he casually dropped he used to do in lsd in class
happy sleepover saturday! tell me more about these dumplings 👀?
a very happy sleepover saturday!! and oh BOY will i, i've been having so much fun making these (unfortunately they are Very not kosher, they have both shrimp and pork) bánh bột lọc are chewy clear dumplings from central vietnam, specifically from hue which is the old imperial city and has a lot of very specific imperial cuisine!
there are two kinds—little packages steamed in banana leaf (what i grew up eating) or shaped into pierogi-shaped dumplings and boiled (what i'm making, because i don't have banana leaf). the dough/wrapper is made of just tapioca flour and water, and the filling is shrimp and pork belly caramelized with some sugar and fish sauce (but there are also chay [vegetarian] versions with mushroom, onion, and jicama). i literally just ate my extra filling out of a bowl with a spoon earlier today
my favorite part about making them is that the dough is white when you wrap and boil it, but then you shock them in ice water and it turns clear and chewy! it's so nervewracking because you don't know if you got it right until the very last step (dough too thick or not enough water won't turn clear) but very satisfying when it works, and the banh bot loc look like little crystals or cells.
i've never seen them in restaurants, but vietnamese delis have trays sometimes (or my family always bought frozen banana leaf-wrapped ones from a great-aunt's friend of a friend's home kitchen lol) so i treasure them as that particular type of homemade food you can't really get unless you make it!
hi there! can i ask what you thought about oklahoma on tour? :)
hi friend! i absolutely loved it, i went to see it 4 times lmao. i really loved the cast and i thought the staging and acting was amazing, especially sis and christopher bannow. sasha and sean have really amazing chemistry as laurey and curly and i absolutely love both of their voices. i'm a big fan of the broadway production but i didn't get to see it live and only have the mediocre bootleg to go off of so i didn't have much to compare it to, so my opinion may be different from other people who saw it (i've seen positive things but i'm not sure the general consensus), but i really loved the cast and thought it was a really special production :)
jasmine tea and/or iced cafe mocha
Jasmine Tea : If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Generally I’ve always been dying to go to Paris. Mainly, this is a byproduct of eight years studying French and next to no chances to apply it. It’s also so storied and so central in literary history, and I love museums, so I could spend the whole time in museums alone and still need more time. I also desperately miss Manhattan!
Iced Cafe Mocha : Favorite thing to do on rainy days? turn off the lights and sit by the window, cracked open so I can hear the wind and feel the cool air, and read a book in my rocking chair.
happy sleepover saturday! anything good you've been listening to music wise lately?
ough yes i fucking love music i’m going bonkers
currently very into August Greenwood who fucking vibes, and You Wish by Flyana Boss, and tbh. a lot of hozier. but i’m on a sawbones lockdown
happy sleepover saturday! what's your favorite month/season and why?

Very knowledgeable about stuff that's so beyond my comprehension. Given that it's your major of course you'd know a lot about music but to me you're The expert on Serious Art™, all things opera, music theory, composing, etc. (this is probably word salad to you but I'm trying to give an idea what things I associate you the most with). Not mentioning that you actually play an instrument professionally, that's like an unreachable level of wizardry to me, but damn, we need to keep it succint.
You're a good writer and I like reading your analysis, you always make strong arguments (im probably repeating your professors here), I can find myself easily swayed even if I wasn't agreeing with the thesis at first. At the same time, you're very observant, each time I read something from yours about a thing we both like I find many good points that never occured to me, even after months of obsessing over said thing.
Maybe unrelated but I still remember your sunflower drawing you showed me a few years ago, it's really good! I like your little niche drawings & comics, especially when they're about my blorbos because then I get the jokes and I'm still reminding myself of some of them and crack to this day - they're very funny!
All around skilled, multi-talented, and highly intelligent. There's probably a ton of things I've got no idea about because I only know you from one side. But to me you're like one of the coolest people on this webbed site.
@mutuals send me a 🍓 and ill compliment u!
