These are some random headcanons I have of our favorite CEO and hero couple. I’m writing a multichapter fic using those headcanons, so stay tunned for future reference.
Kara likes to braid Lena's hair. Sometimes she will just float behind her while she's reading on the couch or working on her office at their home and she will rub her hand through dark locks and braid her hair with so much care that Lena could totally fall asleep while she does so.
Lena stays up until late very often, either to work or because she has to finish something before going to bed. More often than not, Kara will sit by her side and keep her silent company, either reading or just playing on her phone, until she's done and they can go to bed together.
Kara has a gift of knowing whenever Lena's having a bad day. She says it's because they love each other so much, but Lena knows she flies by L-Corp now and then to check on her. Whenever she knows Lena might need a distraction, she sends her favorite flowers with a silly card attached to it.
Kara is also a very DIY lady. She loves handmade gifts, even if it can take her days to make them. Her favorite gift to pull out is small cute matchboxes decorated with romantic scenarios, phrases or even with small chocolate inside, that she likes to hide at Lena's purse for the woman to find later on the day.
Kara plans the best dates. Lena doesn't know how someone can be that creative, but the blonde never seem to run out of ideas and their dates are always a pleasure. There are romantic nights with candles and flowers, movies, wine, and cuddling. Then there are the adventures when Kara simply takes her to do something insane like climb a brick wall. But her favorite ones are the random nights. Stand-up shows, ice skating, airsoft, arcade. Nothing like laughing your ass off while being silly with your love.
No shock that Lena gets worried sick every time the TV breaks in some breaking news involving Supergirl and one of her emergencies. If she's allowed to, depending on where she's currently located, Lena will sit in front of the TV and watch the whole thing to be sure Kara would be okay. She knows there's no one stronger than her on the planet, but she can't help but worry. Knowing this, Kara makes sure to stop by L-Corp every single time after finishing a mission, it being either putting down a fire, saving a dog from under a car or beating up an alien, so she can tell her in person she's fine and receives her "Good Job, I'm proud of you" kiss.
Kara has problems to sleep sometimes. Alex calls it Hero's Weight on Your Shoulder (HWYS when she's trying to be a smartass), but it means that sometimes her brain simply can't turn off for her to sleep. Images of Krypton and a lot of other things keep flashing at her all night and it just sucks. The first couple of times it happened, Lena felt useful and could do nothing but watch as Kara rolled and sighed all night. She made some research though because of course, she would, and she came up with some plans. She was surprised when the first one worked out perfectly. Now, whenever Kara starts feeling restless, she places her head on Lena's chest and asks her to sing to her, which she does of course.
Lena has a busy schedule, no news in that, but it means she can't always find time in her agenda to share lunch with Kara. She does make sure she has food, though. Very often, Kara receives a call from the doorman on CatCo telling her the delivery guy had stopped by to drop her lunch and she always goes down already texting Lena.
3 people on Earth can speak Kryptonian fluently when Lena first hears about it. Apart from the obvious two Kryptonians, there's also Winn and he's the one she goes for when she wants to learn it. Kara and she are still friends when that happens, but she wants to ask her out in Kryptonian. Which she does and Kara answers in English first because it took her like ten seconds to realize Lena had just spoken her native language. Sometimes Lena has to ask Kara to slow down so she can understand, but she's capable of keeping a conversation and Kara loves it.
When Kara has to go off for one of her rescue missions as Supergirl, and it doesn't matter if she was in no danger at all anyways, Lena will always set up a hot bath for her. She knows Kara will always give 100% of herself in anything she does, so she knows the woman would be very likely to push herself much more than needed and a hot bath is a perfect thing to help her body and mind to relax again (and it gives her an excuse to join her sometimes too, so win-win).
When Kara has a particularly busy day saving the town, she has trouble to sleep. Sometimes when she does sleep she has problems to stay still. She turns, and rolls, and kicks and, since she's a superhero, she floats. The first time it happened, Lena screamed for her dear life because she was not expecting to see Kara hanging upside down Spider-Man style snoring slightly (she swears she doesn't snore too). So, now and then, Lena has to wake her up so she floats back to bed. Then, just to be sure, she lies on top of her, literally on top of her, all limbs and all, and sleeps there for the rest of the night, knowing Kara isn't going to float or suffocate with her there.
Lena is easily one of the smartest people on the planet. Hands down. Her work for L-Corp is way beyond a CEO job only and everyone knows it. She's usually using her mind and skills to invent new devices or come up with new amazing ideas. She has tons of projects that she's working on or that she had to push to the side for one reason or another, but she never stops working on new ways to help Supergirl. Armors, weapons, literally anything that will help keep her safe while she's out there saving the city (Kara's favorite invention is a hidden pocket on her suit where she can keep her chocolate).
They're avid readers, no surprise. Kara's favorite gender is romance, while Lena loves sci-fi and suspense, but they honestly read anything that catches their eyes. Whenever they see or read a book they think the other might like, they leave it with a note saying something like "Here you go, nerd" or "To my bookworm". If it's a book they both read, they will gladly discuss it for hours and hours.
Their other hobby is games. They play board games with their friends on game nights and they play cards with Alex and her girlfriend when they want a more quiet night. But they go completely nuts with Mario Kart. They're both very competitive woman and they love Mario, so they very often make tournaments where they can spend a whole weekend playing it. Kara hangs a whiteboard behind their front door and they keep the score there. It's always very tight, but she's proud to say she's winning from 65 x 62;
They both have some crazy working schedules. Lena works until late or has some gala events to attend very often, and Kara has her Supergirl emergencies or some reporter thing to solve out sometimes. It means they're not always home on time for dinner. It is very common for one of them to get home and find the other one sleeping on the couch with a book fallen on their face or chest because they refuse to go to bed without the other.
Because of Kara's sensitive ear, New Year's Eve and the 4th of July are a nightmare for her. So, not only did Lena designed silent fireworks, but she also takes Kara to celebrate in a quiet place every holiday. She knows not everybody is fond of her quiet fireworks and that many people still go for the older ones, so is still hard for Kara. So they lock themselves at the DEO lab and spent the night celebrating on their own. Even so, Lena makes sure Kara will enjoy their private party, always going out of her way to make everything perfect.
They are always trying different things together. Lena wasn’t very fond of the idea of trying new things, but Kara showed her how nice and fun it could be and now she’s all about it with her. They tried some normal things like dancing classes, yoga, painting, craftwork and cooking new dishes, but they also went pretty insane at some point with the cricket, skydiving – Kara did it for the joke, golf and scuba diving on caves. They simply adore trying new things together, to get that excited feeling while holding hands and smiling at each other.
They can’t quite remember who said it first because it became so normal that it was almost like it was something they always said, but they were each other flowers. Kara was Lena’s sunflower, bringing happiness, loyalty, adoration and the sun itself into her life. Lena was Kara’s rose, always making her feel love and passion, and giving her strength. Again, they don’t remember who said it first, maybe it was even Alex who made the comparison when they were still friends, but they felt it into their hearts that it was true.
