Ok, whoever said BTAS was the first serious and dramatic Batman cartoon obviously never watched the last season of Super Friends. This series, The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians is much darker than the rest of the series. The ep I'm on (The Fear), Scarecrow (whose gotten a makeover and new v/o since his Hall of Doom days) has dosed Batman with fear toxin while Batman was in Crime Alley and now Batsy is crying and freaking out. He ends up explaining to Dick and Diana why he became frightened and almost paralyzed, so we get the story of Batman's parents and Batman's origins (complete with the "criminals are a cowardly lot" line) for the first time in cartoon history. And this was actually the first time we see the scene outside the comics at all (although they don't actually show the murder). Even in the '66 TV series Bruce only talked about it in one of the first episodes, but there was no flashback scene to go with it. So, yeah, definitely not as campy as the rest of the series (despite the bad end of episode one-liners) and still a good 7yrs before BTAS. Now, there are a couple eps that follow the older format and are still a bit campy, but largely, the tone of this series is much more dramatic and serious than all the others. And the art style changed for this series too. It's more detailed and comic accurate. And has more characters outside of the Super Friends like Alfred and Gordon (in previous series we only saw Lois Lane). The Hall of Justice changed in appearance too and now looks kinda like the Pentagon. Last thing that sets this one apart, this is the first series where we've seen any of the characters as their alter-egos. #TankfreaksStuff #NowWatching #SuperFriends80s #SuperPowersTeam #GalacticGuardians #TheFear #SuperFriends #70sChild #80sCartoons #Cartoons #DCcartoons #HannaBarbera #Batman #BruceWayne #Robin #Scarecrow #JonathanCrane #WonderWoman #AdamWest #SuperFriendsBinge #HallOfJustice #JusticeLeague #MyChildhood #FlashbackToMyChildhood #1985
