Thanksgiving has had many definitions throughout my life. One important era surrounding the holiday was back in 2005-2006 when a bunch of us would all pile into a couple cars and hit the road traveling south to Canyon City / La Junta or some other random Colorado town just for fun. It was about skateboarding, good times and more or less a way to put aside our responsibilities for a few days. It was also one of those times where we all really were able to learn what friendship is and great it can be. Last year, after Jason Heidecker’s memorial service, some friends met up for a session at one of Jason’s hometown skate spots. One thing led to another and the guys started pouring concrete and creating a diy addition to the jersey barrier there. Good times with a good crew #superfriendsforever #rabethicaforever
I'm a sucker for photos from the Ash ramp days in Boulder. My friend George Cutright took this picture when the Real skateboard team visited Colorado--likely in 2004 or so. It features Jasin Phares doing a signature back smith that I remember seeing at the blue park in Boulder several years earlier. Many good friends hanging on deck / ready to drop in as well: Ivan Goldberg, Lazer, Jason Heidecker, Steve Bacon, Travis Towe and Tucker. One of the many ramps that Jason Heidecker built in Boulder.
