It doesn’t look like much these days but back in the 80’s when my friends and I discovered this hidden gem in our town it was a dream come true. Quite different from the backyard ramps we had at the time, the smooth asphalt and gradual transitions of this private natural half pipe were the closest thing we had to the concrete skateparks you’d see in the magazines. — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/m70hvpS
Memories Of Green - Had a chance to visit one of my all time favorites during our recent trip to St. Louis: Pool Complex: Orchard Valley, is an abandoned 1930’s swimming pool which was converted to a site-specific art installation. Mary Miss - Pool Complex: Orchard Valley 1983-85 Wolmanized pine, concrete, stone, galvanized steel Laumeier Sculpture Park - Sunset Hills, MO In Pool Complex: Orchard Valley, Mary Miss includes existing historical artifacts in her contemporary site-specific sculpture. She converted the grounds of an abandoned 1930s pool into a newly built and landscaped environment. Once the site of the Hedenkamp family's Orchard Valley Estate, Miss brings the past into a new social context. The artist highlights the ruins of the estate while we explore her pavilions, platforms and staircases that surround the pool . With the renewal of this dormant strructure, and the purposefully evident aging of her own site work, Miss brings attention to the context of history and the continuum of time. Last weekend Meg and I took a quick last minute trip to spend Mother’s Day in St. Louis. The highlight of the day was going to see The Slope Of Possibility, a gorgeous garden in Webster Groves designed and grown by my friend Marcy Spanogle and dedicated to her Mother. Her entire yard is filled with hundreds of flowers, each with Marcy’s hand written plant identification cards and filled with so much love and care. Such a special place and an honor to visit with my Mom 💜 — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/nIJKvc2

Earlier this year I had the honor of documenting Team Escaramuza Monumental USA. Made up of girls from various States throughout the country, the team will be representing the United States at the Mane 'N Tail Charras de Acero “Mujeres Sin Limite” competition this weekend in Mexico. Good luck! Thank you to Naiomy, Vicente, Paola, Coach Memo, La Familia Chavez, Las Escaramuzas y Charros De Acero. @naiofda @artecharra @paola.pim @glimon83 @charrosdeaceromx @charrosdecolorado #charrasdeacero #charrosdeacero #charrasdecolorado #charrosdecolorado — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/zqymcKX

Skateboarding has always been a safe haven in the center of my world. For a couple of short summers throughout the pandemic I saw my childhood dreams realized having a backyard vert ramp nearby. The sessions were special, experienced only by a select few due to Covid. As is with everything, the only constant is change and good things don’t necessarily last forever. It was such an inspiration and great while it lasted. Thanks to everyone involved. We’re keeping an eye out for a new home for the ramp, preferably somewhere indoors. Got any ideas? — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/g4dclOW
What a crazy couple of years it’s been. I haven’t been sharing much work on this page but LIFE IS GRAND and a consistent evolution of unexpected twists and turns. So much to celebrate at the moment and quite daunting to think about all the creative efforts I’ve undertaken and how exactly to pick back up talking about them! I decided to start with an image of me in my happy place—taking pictures at the Charreada. About a decade ago, I followed a hunch and went to my first “Mexican Rodeo.” Little did I know how much that experience would impact me, my life and my work. I’m so thankful for the support I’ve received from everyone, especially the Torres family, but really the entire community here in Colorado. It’s such an honor having the opportunity to document such a unique cultural tradition with such a long history. While it’s only a fraction of what’s out there, and there’s a lot more to come, be sure to check out my other account, @charrosdecolorado for more current updates regarding that project. My aim for this page is to pick back up and share a bit more of my personal projects—both visual and sound explorations, as well as some of the recent commercial and advertising projects I’ve been working on. Thanks so much for being here and for supporting my work. Thanks to @amp_santoyo for the picture! #charrosdecolorado — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/0maUMev

It’s been a beautiful busy autumn here in Lafayette. We’re still getting everything put into place but it’s been great slowing things down, stepping outside and feeling into the landscape at our new place. We especially love the all the new neighbors! — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/3cI5T0D
