JESUS CHRIST IS A SUPERHACKER?
Kara couldn’t help but let out a laugh at the looks on the cops’ faces as they sped around the corner, leaving the sirens to wail in the distance. She slung her arm over Zari’s shoulders and beamed at her girlfriend when the latter rolled her eyes at her enthusiasm.
“Lighten up a little! Soon enough, they’re gonna be miles behind us.”
“Don’t get too cocky, babe,” Zari warned, but her lips were already curling at the corners. “We haven’t lost ’em yet.”
Kara pecked that quirk to Zari’s mouth and laughed again at the rising flush to Zari’s cheeks, no matter how serious she was attempting to be. “Sure. And we’re the ones with the money, in case you hadn’t noticed.”
“Still have to drop it off with your sister. If they follow us - ”
“Hey, we’re gonna lose them,” Kara said. She squeezed the other’s shoulder and leaned her head back against her seat. Zari pealed around the next corner, heading for the bridge and swerving expertly between traffic. Damn, she could almost feel the adrenaline getting to Zari, weaving itself under her skin and buzzing until it had nowhere to go.
She loved seeing Zari lose herself to the thrill of the chase. It was part of what had drawn her to her girlfriend in the first place, that day when she’d rolled into National City with a banged up car and needed somewhere to camp out for the night.
Whether they were thieves or reporters or even movie stars, Kara didn’t care where they went. She just wanted to have this for the rest of her life.
